THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Mathematics is like checkers in being suitable for the young, not too difficult, amusing and without peril to the state.
Plato
I keep a game of checkers here so the grand children can play when they come to visit. So I’ll be celebrating today. When the weather gets cooler out, playing games inside is a good thing to do.
Although I’m here by myself today, I may not have anyone to play with, but I’ll set my checkers out so they are handy to get to.
It’s Friday and my day to cook up something new and on the menu is :
Mushroom Ravioli
Makes 2 servings
2 cups refrigerated cheese ravioli
1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 Tbsp. chopped onion
2 Tbsp. chopped sweet pepper
1 Tsp. olive oil
2 Tsp cornstarch
1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1/4 cup half and half
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Grated Parmesan cheese, optional
Cook ravioli according to package directions
Meanwhile in a small fry pan coated with cooking spray, saute the mushrooms, and peppers in oil until tender.
Combine the cornstarch, broth, half and half and salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually stir into the pan. Bring to a boil and cook until thickened.
Drain the ravioli and stir into sauce; heat through. Sprinkle with cheese if desired.
I don’t have any checkers pictures to show you today, but I do have plenty of the grandchildren having Fall Fun.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday !
Eternity is a child playing checkers. The kingdom belongs to a child.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
10,639 for checkers, a fun way to pass the time
10,640. for grandchildren to play games with
10,641. for fall day to stay in and play games
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
There were red checkers and black checkers. The playing field was laid out in a strict grid, no tunnels or mountains or jungles. You know where you stood. You knew the score. The pieces were out on the board, the enemy was visible, you could watch the tactics unfolding into larger strategies. There was a winner and a loser. There were rules.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Sweet entry. I had forgotten about Checkers. Funny the game though because the kitchen table for the apt has a checker board on it.
You always teach or remind us of life.. Picture are sweet and we need to get a pumpkin!
Sherry & jack smiling....
I remember Trish and Julie Nixon's little dog, Checkers!
Gosh, I wouldn't know the first thing about playing checkers. My son and DIL, however, keep a board open in their living room and play often.
