ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Sibling Day which is a day to appreciate and cherish your bothers and sisters and the other fantastic people in our lives that have acted like siblings over the years. Siblings are truly a special blessing that we probably all too often take for granted. They are often our best friends and supporters through life.
Not everyone is lucky enough to have siblings and their lives are significantly different growing up and through out life.
Siblings are an incredible gift and anyone with a brother or sister should not let the day just pass without celebrating them.
They say that today is also National Cinnamon Croissant day. Cinnamon has always been a valued spice. People used to use cinnamon to preserve meat, flavor their beverages and cure certain ailments. Today it is still one of the most popular spices and is a key ingredient in many baked goods.
In honor of the day I do have an easy recipe to share for Cinnamon Croissants.
Simply Super Crescent Cinnamon Rolls
2/3 c. finely chopped pecans
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1/3 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cu butter or margarine, softened
2 cans refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
Glaze
1 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. butter or margarine softened
2 to 3 tbsp. milk
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 13 by 9 inch pan. Into small bowl, mix the filling ingredients.
Unroll 1 can of crescent dough into a large rectangle; press into a 13 by 7 inch rectangle, firmly pressing perforations to seal. Spread filling over rectangle.
Do the same with the second can of crescent rolls. Cut the dough into strips. Twist each strip 5 or six times pressing extra filling into rolls. Shape each into a coil and place in pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown. Remove and cool.
In small bowl, stir glaze ingredients, adding enough milk for desired drizzling consistency; drizzle over rolls. Best served warm.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters.
We know each other as we always were. We know
each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes.
We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys.
We live outside the touch of time.
Clara Ortega
I’m blessed to have a sister that doesn’t live very far away and she means an awful lot to me. She is a friend as well as a sibling. We don’t always see each other often, but we talk on the phone at least 2 or 3 times every week.
There were three of us growing up, but we lost our middle sister a little over a year ago now. She lived next door to me for over 20 years and I miss her every day.
I have a few dear friends that are also sisters to me. They have been friends of mine for a long long time and even though we’re not related, we are like sisters at heart. It’s nice to have a sister that is my friend and also to have friends that are like sisters.
Well it took most of the day yesterday to reach the promised 40’s in the weather forecast. Today we’re to be in the mid 40’s again, but the sun is supposed to shine so maybe it won’t take so long. Tomorrow we’ll be warmer yet.
The very first picture today is of me and my sister and our daughters which was taken this past summer. The rest are of my some of my grandchildren and their siblings. What a joy they are all.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.

5876. for crescent rolls, which make baking easy
5877. for cinnamon, a favorite spice of mine
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I’m going to search through my photos and post about my siblings on Facebook later today. There were four of us growing up together and two other sisters whom were given away when they were little. But not together. They are full blood sisters to each other and my two sisters and brother are full blood siblings. I never knew who my father was so I’m half sibling to all f them. Life can be very complicated as it is for my family but I do treasure the relationships we have forged. To have and be a sibling is a gift not all people have so I feel especially blessed to have so many!
Now I'm craving one of your cinnamon croissants! :)
Yes, no doubt my outlook on life is vastly different than those blessed with siblings. While we can't amend history, I cherish those friends (you included!) who've become my cyber-family!
My siblings are not that good at staying close. It is sad! The croissants sound delish!
