ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

It’s National Pretzel Day!
Centuries ago, monks created the first pretzels from scrapes of leftover dough. The unique knot shape represented the Holy Trinity, but the significance of this symbol has evolved over the course of history. During the 17th century pretzels symbolized the bond of marriage. This is where the phrase, tying the knot, originated. Today traditional soft pretzels are popular at sporting events, carnivals and festivals.
Hard pretzels are a fairly new invention compared to the original soft pretzels. According to legend, in the late 1600’s a Pennsylvania baker forgot a batch of pretzels in the oven. The over baked treats were dark and hard, but the baker sampled one anyway. He was pleasantly surprised by the crunchy deliciousness. Hard pretzels are now one of the most popular snack foods.
To celebrate today simply enjoy your favorite type of pretzel!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life is a happy thing, a festival to be enjoyed rather than a drudgery to be endured.
Luci Swindoll
Pretzels are a great snack and I especially enjoy them with dip so I thought I’d share one of my favorites today. It is similar to the popular strawberry pretzel salad, but is a delicious dip.
Strawberry Pretzel Salad Dip
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/3 cup granulated sugar
pinch salt
8 ounce tub Cool Whip
3/4 cup Strawberry Pie Filling, divided
Pretzels for serving
Use a hand mixer to beat cream cheese, sugar and salt until smooth. Fold in Cool Whip. Stir in about 1/2 cup of pie filling. Chill dip until ready to serve.
When ready to serve, place dip in serving bowl and top with 1/4 of pie filling for garnish. Serve with pretzels.
So far this week I’ve deviated from my 15 minutes a day plan and turned my attention to the sunporch. It had become a dumping place during the winter and needed a good cleaning . Now that is done I will hopefully finish off the cleaning out the closets by the end of the week.
I love having the sunporch to enjoy in the nice weather and spend a lot of my time there. It has windows and screens to open when it warms up. I took some pictures of it to show you today. It’s my little summer oasis and is shaded by the big oak tree outside.
Next week I hope to start on Spring cleaning. With the nice weather and more daylight, the dust bunnies really show up and the windows need a good cleaning too. There is nothing quite like a sunny day to show you where the dirt is.
Of course, the grass will soon need mowing too…there are going to be some very busy and happy days ahead.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

Love your sunporch! My husband found some gluten free pretzels, so glad since they are good snack for him!
That is a neat sun porch! I can see why you enjoy spending so much time there! I like pretzels and cream cheese; always a tasty snack.

Your sun room décor certainly looks like a restful retreat. Did you paint that hummingbird screen? ... it's lovely! I need to find some little side tables for ours.
We love pretzels!
What a delightful place to relax! I've had to mow the lawn twice now and it's growing furiously. Thanks for more wonderful and inspiring thoughts!
