ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Kindergarten Day which honors the preschool education institution. It also recognizes the creator of the concept of Kindergarten, Friedrich Froebel who was born on April 21st, 1782.
His primary goal was based on the concept that children would be taken care of and nourished in children’s gardens, much like plants in a garden. This idea of children’s garden later became know as kindergarten.
In the U.S., kindergarten is considered the first formal year of a child’s education . It’s a big step and certainly a day no parent will every forget.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There are two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live.
John Adams
Kindergarten has definitely changed since my day and age. It’s now much like 1st grade used to be and Preschool classes for 3 and 4 year olds have become very popular. It used to be that Kindergarten was only for a half day but now is often a full day program. I remember taking my little rug to school and we’d always have time for rest or a nap. I’m not so sure they do that anymore.
Our little ones do need to be nourished and cared for and it’s important to also be appreciative of those wonderful teachers that do so much to help them bloom and grow.
It’s seems young children are always thrilled to learn something new. Their minds are like sponges that soak things up. But one thing I’ve learned is that we never get to old to learn something new. No matter our age there is still lots to learn and life is an ongoing education.
The very first picture today is our little X factor on his first day of Kindergarten this year and the picture above is Mr. Wonderful’s school picture this year. He is making his first communion at our church today and we’ll be celebrating with at a luncheon given by his parents, DS#5 and his wife afterward. I’m sure they are very proud parents today too. It’s a day no parent ever forgets.
We’re to be partly cloudy today and in the 50’s. Here’s hoping the sunshine will break through.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

It is a big day to make your First Communion. I remember bits and pieces of mine from years ago, same with kindergarten. I too remember taking a little nap/rest at kindergarten and I agree, I'm not sure they do that anymore; they didn't when my kids were in it. So true how we continue to learn things, no matter how old we are. Enjoy the day!

How interesting, the origins of kindergarten! I, too, recall my early days at Central Elementary, the odd aromas of wet rubber boots and slickers and paste ... and of course, the comforting nap mats.
Congratulations on your handsome grandson's First Communion! Our Irish next-door neighbors growing up always threw such wonderful galas for their children's Baptisms and Holy Communions. I almost felt we Lutherans were cheated, lol!
My grandquads are in kindergarte and they go all day! From 7:25 to 2:50! Isn't that too long a day for 5 year olds? It would be hard for me!
Your grandson is adorable! My, they all grow up way too fast!!
