ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MARCH 10TH, 2010
It's WEDNESDAY!
OVER THE HUMP DAY!
My birthday celebration is still going on…at least it was yesterday. When I got home from work Tuesday evening I found a box of lovely yellow roses on the porch from DS#4 and his family and then when I opened my e-mail there was a gift certificate from DS#3 and family. Yes, now I can buy some books!!!
How thoughtful everyone has been for my birthday. Thank you all so much for making my birthday a very special one.
I guess now that I’m officially retirement age it really is a birthday worth celebrating more than one day! I may just celebrate the whole year long. When you are young it seems as though that day will never come. It’s something we all dream about. I won’t believe it’s true until I actually don’t have to go in to work anymore.
THINKING
On Ash Wednesday we heard the words…REMEMBER you are dust and to dust you shall return. The season of Lent reminds us to remember our sin, our mortality, our need for a Savior.
TODAY: Stop looking for encouragement and approval. Genuinely encourage and affirm someone else instead
Kindness, like a boomerang, always returns

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Wednesday is Sandwich Day!
This is one of my very favorite sandwiches and I get it every year when we go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. The restaurant there makes them so good.
REUBIN SANDWICH
rye bread
about 1/4 pound thinly sliced corned beef for each sandwich
Swiss cheese
sauerkraut
Russian salad dressing
Assemble ingredients on rye bread and grill on a lightly greased griddle until lightly browned and cheese is melted.
PRAYERS
Lord God, thank You for Your tender care in all circumstances
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
Somewhere in the trunk of my car is an umbrella. I guess I’d better find it before starting out today. It’s not been used since last fall but they do say by evening we will have some showers. For the next 2 days it will be in the mid – fifties. Very spring like for sure.
March does begin the tornado season in the United States. I hesitated putting that in my newsletter as we’ve still snow on the ground. My calendar says that this time last year northeast Ohio was hit with a major snow storm.
It seems in March we can have just about any kind of weather.
FAMILY
This is the second warning!!
Daylight Savings Time begins this coming Sunday. It’s the dreaded Spring Forward day when we lose an hour of sleep. Put a note on your fridge, a sticky on your alarm clock, or whatever you have to do to remember to set your clock Saturday night. While you’re at it, don’t forget your watch, the clocks on your microwave and DVD player, the clock in your car . . .
Sunday March 14th – Daylight Savings time begins!
COUNTING THE DAYS
When Irish eyes are smiling,
'Tis like a morn in spring.
With a lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing
10 DAY UNTIL SPRING !
37 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
22 DAYS UNTIL MA RETIRES
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
