For Tuesday, March 30th, 2010
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MARCH 30TH, 2010
It's TUESDAY!
Today is Take a Walk in the Park Day. It is an opportunity for exercise and relaxation. Are you stressed out? A walk in the park is just what the doctor ordered. Its calming and therapeutic. Taken after a busy work day, it helps clear your mind and re-energize you. Or, take the walk during lunch and you will find the afternoon of work goes by quicker and easier
I love walking and do a lot more of too when the weather gets nice. They predict a warm and dry week ahead for us. It’ll be great to enjoy being outdoors for a change!
I am still having intermittent computer problems so I’m sending this out this evening instead of in the morning. I never know when starting up my computer just how long that might take and in the morning before I leave for work I really don’t have much time. I may just start going to an evening newsletter instead of a morning one.
We’ll see…
THINKING
Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime
Martin Luther
Monday thru Thursday we finish as many household chores and Easter preparations as possible during this time. There is an old tradition of thoroughly cleaning house in the days before sundown on Holy Thursday. Get what you need for the meals of Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Day, so you don't need to run errands then.
Housecleaning: Wednesday of Holy Week has been a traditional day in many countries for housecleaning - from the Jewish custom of cleaning before Passover.
Arrange for Friday and Saturday to be quiet family days, with few or no outside activities scheduled.
Make a special Easter bread now if it will keep until Easter morning. On Holy Thursday, make hot cross buns for Good Friday.
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Tuesdays are Pasta Day
What do you do with Easter's leftover hard-cooked eggs besides make traditional egg salad? This tangy pasta recipe serves 12 and uses 10 to 12 eggs. Hold your Easter egg hunt early, then let the kids crack and peel the eggs for you. Make the salad in advance, chill, then add the eggs into the salad right before serving.
13 ounces rotini (corkscrew- shaped) pasta
1-3/4 cups chopped red bell pepper
1-1/2 cups blanched peas
3/4 cup chopped green onion
3 cups plain nonfat yogurt
3 cups reduced fat mayonnaise
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1-1/2 teaspoons dried basil or dillweed, crushed
1 tablespoon garlic salt 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
10 to 12 hard cooked eggs, shelled and chopped
Cook pasta until al dente; drain. In a large bowl, combine the pepper, peas and green onions. gently stir in pasta. In a separate bowl blend the remaining ingredients, except for the eggs. Stir the dressing into the pasta. Gently combine the eggs into the salad. Cover and chill until serving.
PRAYERS
Heavenly Father, most Gracious, and Loving God, I pray to you that you abundantly bless my family and me. I know that you recognize, that a family is more than just a mother, father, sister, brother, husband and wife, but all who believe and trust in You.
Father God, deliver the person reading this right now from debt and debt's burdens. Release Your Godly wisdom that I may be a good steward over all that You have given me Father, for I know how wonderful and mighty You are and how if we just obey You and walk in Your Word and have the faith of a mustard seed that You will pour out blessings. I thank You now Lord for the recent blessings I have received and for the blessings yet to come because I know You are not done with me yet.
In Jesus' name, I pray
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
And God bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's!!!
AMEN
AROUND HOME
Keep a thing seven years and it's bound to come in handy
Russian Proverb
I know that many think that if you haven’t used a thing in one year’s time it needs to be tossed out, but I’m a keeper and keep many things for more than even 7 years. It’s seems the minute I throw it away I find a use for it.
What I do need to do is organize what I do have. Often I forget I already have something and go out and buy it again. That will be one of the many retirement jobs I have planned to do. Let the good times roll….
FAMILY
DS#1 and family will be making a trip soon to visit DS#4 and family for Easter this year. I’m so happy they could get together as I know it is very hard for my out of state babes to not have family around during the holidays.
I’ll be praying for a safe and happy trip for them.
