It's FRIDAY!
The days of work are dwindling down to a precious few. I am just ready to be done with it all, but am persevering. By tomorrow I hope a decision will be made as to who will be taking my place, then next week I’ll begin training someone.
We have had such nice weather all week long. The threats of rain have held off but today maybe the day the forecasters are right. It was very foggy going to work yesterday with all the snow melting. We still have some piles where the snow was the deepest but more and more bare ground is appearing.

Friday is Pizza Day!
Just a little Pizza History for you today…
In 16th century Naples a galette flatbread was referred to as a pizza. It was a dish of the poor people, it was sold in the street and was not considered a kitchen recipe for a long time. Flatbreads, like pizza, are from the Mediterranean area.
The innovation that gave us the flat bread we call pizza was the use of tomato as a topping. by the late 18th century it was common for the poor of the area around Naples to add tomato to their yeast-based flat bread, and so the pizza was born. The dish gained in popularity, and soon pizza became a tourist attraction as visitors to Naples ventured into the poorer areas of the city to try the local specialty.
The Neapolitans take their pizza very seriously. consider there to be only two true pizzas, the Marinara and the Margherita and that is all they serve.
The Marinara is the older of the two and has a topping of tomato, oregano, garlic and extra virgin olive oil. It is named Marinara not because it has seafood on it (it doesn't) but because it was the food prepared by la marinara, the seaman's wife, for her sea faring husband when he returned from fishing trips
The Margherita is topped with modest amounts of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil. The pizza bases in Naples are soft and pliable. In Rome they prefer a thin and crispy base
Pizza first made its appearance in the United States with the arrival of Italian immigrants in the late 19th century. This was certainly the case in cities with large Italian populations. Before the 1940s, pizza consumption was limited mostly to Italian immigrants and their descendants.
Today we all love pizza and I for one am thankful to those Italians.

Every day life is such a blast. How anyone can every get bored is beyond me. I love getting up in the morning. I’m always full of anticipation of what the new day might bring and never have I ever been let down.
Yes, I do have bad days too just like everyone else, but looking around there is always something good to find, if you look on the BRIGHT SIDE of things.
FAMILY
Interesting enough is the fact that one of the interviews my boss made this week was with a gal that had gone to school with DS#1. Neither one remembered the other, so maybe their paths never crossed. I’m sure in a class of around 400 students that could happen.
It always amazes me that although I live in what is considered a small town there are still so many strangers in it. I’ve lived here most all my life and chances are that I see people I know only at church or maybe the grocery store occasionally. I guess I live a limited existence and probably need to get out more. But the quiet life suits me just fine.
COUNTING THE DAYS
It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!

I like and agree with the MacArthur quote! And I, too, like the quiet life - which does NOT mean boring! Your "bright side" attitude is a blessing!
I like the MacArthur quote too, and as family and friends know, I also love the quiet life. And Pizza? it's one of my favorites. I enjoyed learning more about it. Now that I've finished reading about it I'm going to go get some.
Seriously hoping they have decided on your replacement so you can retire! Too many hours in the day for fun stuff to spend them all working!
