ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
DECEMBER 20th, 2009
It's SUNDAY…
As always I’ll be off to church this morning. I’m just a wee bit tired from all the festivities of yesterday but I had so much fun that it was worth it all. I’m glad to have a little time just to enjoy my good cup of coffee this morning
I loved seeing my children and their children together and just love to watch them interact with one another. That is a blessing for sure. I’ve been a mom for quite a few years now and never stop rejoicing over my family. They are the best!
Today will be on the quiet side, thank the good Lord, and I’ll be enjoying that good R&R that is so badly needed. Hopefully you all can too!
THINKING
Advent is the time of hope, a time to renew the light of Christ in our lives.
As He came to bring us the light of eternal life, we hope to share our light with others.
FROM MY ADVENT DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY
Take a me break today. Remember that you are the beloved of God. Let the Spirit treat you to a break in the hectic preparations. Realize that you need to pamper yourself a little so that you don't forget how loved you really are
O Antiphon for Today
O Clavis David: O Key of David, O Royal Power of Israel controlling at your will the gate of heaven: Come, break down the prison walls of death for those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death; and lead your captive people into freedom.
Isaiah 9:6; 22:22

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Eggnog Bread Pudding
Use sour dough bread or French bread, cut up into tiny cubes, and place in 9x13 casserole dish. Pour eggnog over the bread, add nuts, or raisins.
Place in a pan of hot water and bake at 350 degrees F. until knife comes out clean.
(or use any bread pudding recipe and just substitute the eggnog for the milk and eggs)
ATTIRE FOR TODAY
I’ll be wearing the purple which is the color of the season of Advent.
Although our temps will remain right around freezing today and we’ll have more clouds than sunshine it won’t be a bad day at all and the weather will remain calm so the roads will be clear for those traveling.
PRAYERS
Father, you can do all things. Take away our fear, our doubt, our discouragement. We trust in you and place our whole lives in your hands…Let us pray
as Advent draws to a close, that Christ will truly come
into our hearts.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
I am thinking that for those who have not had any Advent so far, they are probably tired of all the frantic rush to get things ready for Christmas. We do tend to cram into the emptiness and longing of Advent, Christmas parties and dinners which can sometimes make the celebration of His birth not very uplifting
But in these final days of Advent take time to spend some quiet moments reflecting on the wondrous gift we received at Christmas so many years ago, the Jesus who came that we might have life. We celebrate his birth again this year on Christmas and receive God’s awesome gift once more.
