18 DAYS UNTIL FALL

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Wildlife Day which reminds us that there are creatures out there that cannot speak for themselves, so we have to stand up and be a voice for them. The animals will thank you for it, as will the generations to come who will still be able to enjoy them!
Thankfully there are plenty of options to help support endangered animals, and Wildlife Day is a great opportunity to get out and do it! Almost every community has animal sanctuaries and zoos nearby, so take a trip with your family, and your friends. Go out to enjoy their exhibits.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The wildlife and its habitat cannot speak, so we must…
Theodore Roosevelt
I love to watch the wildlife right here in my backyard. The birds, the squirrels and the butterflies of late summer constantly amaze and entertain me.
I really enjoyed the cooler weather of the past few days, but today it’ll be little warmer and I saw some 90 degree days coming our way next week. Summer is definitely not done with us yet.
The sleeping has been great too and I even needed to pull on my blanket a time or two. And thankfully the air conditioning even got a much needed break.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Buffalo Chicken Wings Day
The National Buffalo Wing Festival, happens at Coca Cola Stadium in Buffalo, New York on Labor Day weekend. Buffalo, New York claims to be the birthplace of the Buffalo chicken wing so I thought I’d better look up a recipe to share.
Buffalo Chicken Wings
12 chicken wings, about 2 pounds
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon red pepper sauce
1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1 bottle blue cheese dressing, if desired
Celery, carrot and zucchini sticks, optional
Cut each chicken wing at joints to make 3 pieces; discard tip. Cut off excess skin; discard. I leave my wings whole and simply fold the tip over and secure behind the end.
Heat oven to 425 F. Melt margarine in rectangular pan, 13 by 9 by 2 inches, in oven. Mix flour, salt and pepper in large heavy duty resealable plastic bag. Add chicken; seal bag tightly. Shake until chicken is completely coated with flour mixture. Place in pan.
Bake uncovered 20 minutes; turn chicken. Mix barbecue sauce, pepper sauce, Cajun seasoning and cumin in medium bowl. Pour over chicken; toss until evenly coated with sauce. Bake uncovered 10 to 12 minutes longer or until light golden brown on outside and juice is no longer pink when centers of thickest pieces are cut.
Serve with dressing and celery sticks. That’s they way they do it in Buffalo.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The whole secret of the study of nature lies in learning how to use one's eyes.
George Sand
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4192. for chicken, always good anyway you choose to serve it
4193. for wildlife, beautiful and amazing
4194. for my first good cup of Pumpkin Spice coffee this year.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty if only we have the eyes to see them.
John Ruskin
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

We don't have a lot of wildlife here but just a few birds, but they are fun to watch. Even our weather is cooling off. 77 degrees this morning when a week ago it was 85 degrees at this time. I have noticed too less running of tge air conditioner too.

Creatures that cannot speak for themselves. That's why I love wildlife, and that's why I protect it, as much as possible. We have had a surfeit of tomatoes this year, far more than two people can eat. I have given them away and given them away.
Tonight, as I mowed, I scared a rabbit out of the straw bales. I hope it was eating a tomato!
I really loved the picture of your feet and your backyard. Looks like a nice yard. I like to sit in my yard but the mosquitoes have been horrible. Maybe with cooler weather coming it will get better. Have a good Labor Day tomorrow!
Bookmarking the recipe Pam. I love buffalo chicken anything! I am a real wildlife lover. So is Todd, it is a love we share. I get so much pleasure from all that surrounds us. We are truly blessed! Happy Labor Day! xoxo
