Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Get Ready Day. Being prepared to deal with an emergency is important for anyone and this is what Get Ready Day is all about. It is celebrated each year as a way of encouraging individuals, families, and communities to consider what is required in the event of natural disasters, pandemic illnesses, infectious diseases, and other crisis events. The day was established by the Public Health Association.
Disasters can happen at any time, in any place, to anyone.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
On your mark, Get ready, Get Set, Go...
Here at my house I’m getting ready for Fall. With the change of seasons there is a lot to do
Some of the things I try to do, before the cold weather comes, are to seal gaps and cracks around windows and doors with weather stripping and caulk. Drain and winterize outdoor faucets. Replace dirty furnace filters. Test smoke and CO monitors, and inspect the fire extinguishers.
I also need to get the comforter and blankets out of the attic storage and place on my bed so they are ready to be used. Rotate the closet by getting out the warmer clothing and store away the summer things. Clean out the flower beds by getting rid of weeds and dead plants. Wash and store away the outdoor furniture cushions.
Thankfully, I still have some time to get it all done. I’m aiming for mid October. It’s always a good thing to be ready.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
September 20 is Punch Day which is celebrated by drinking a tall glass of this delicious party beverage.
Typically made by mixing a variety of fruit juices, a punch can be alcoholic or nonalcoholic.
When we have a family celebration the punch bowl usually comes out and it’s filled with what we call Frothy Slosh. It’s a combination of cranapple drink, ginger ale and sherbet.
Since the first day of fall is not far away at all I looked for a recipe for special punch to celebrate with.
You can add some orange to your Fall Parties with this yummy Orange Fall Party Punch Recipe!
One 2 liter of Sprite, chilled
One 2 liter of Fanta Orange soda, chilled
6 to 8 scoops Orange Sherbet
Combine Sprite and Fanta Orange in large punchbowl, and stir. Add scoops of Sherbet just before serving for some fun frothy goodness! Serve in a punch bowl with glasses or cups.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Fall, not spring, is the time in this region to clear away dead leaves and branches, to renovate the borders, to start new gardens.... And even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.
Elizabeth Lawrence,
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4240. for a reminder to be prepared
4241. for punch, frothy slosh is our favorite party drink
4242. for plenty of time to get things done
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Autumn is the perfect time to take account of what we’ve done, what we didn’t do, and what we’d like to do next year.

I liked that smile because you can, so true, we have lots to smile about. You do have lots to do to get ready for fall and winter, Ma. Good to pace yourself to get it done.

I remember that punch from my youth. I think I had it at some weddings and it was good!
