WELCOME SEPTEMBER !
The month of September is Classical Music Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Fall Hat Month, International Square Dancing Month, National Blueberry Popsicle Month, National Courtesy Month, National Piano Month, Chicken Month, Baby Safety Month, Little League Month, Honey Month, Self Improvement Month, and Better Breakfast Month
Today is World Letter Writing Day or short WLWD. It is sometimes also called Letter Writing Day, as the focus is on handwritten letters. Participating is not a hard thing to do, as you should simply write a letter to someone who is worth the time for you. It is important that your letter is actually handwritten with a pen or a pencil on real paper. The receiver can be anyone. World Letter Writing Day truly leads writers back to the roots.
National Letter Writing Day is on December 7th.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart.
Phyllis Theroux
For the most part it seems we've stopped writing letters. We now send emails instead. But finding an email in your inbox is not the same as getting a hand written letter. I cannot remember when I last received one and it’s been a long time since I wrote one. I use email more than not.
It does make me wonder whether or not they even teach letter writing in schools anymore. When I was young, it was the popular way to communicate with one another. I fondly remember sending and receiving letters from my grandmother.
This week my computer went a little crazy and I wondered if I’d even be able to send an email out. Thankfully DS#6 happened to be in town for the day and got it all straightened out.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Cherry Popover Day.
Cherry Popovers are tasty treats made from an egg batter and flour mix. This doughy muffin is filled with cherries, then baked. It is baked in either a muffin tin, or a special popover tin. either, way it is totally delicious!
Cherry Popovers
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup pitted cherries
Beat the milk, melted butter, flour, and salt in a medium bowl until just smooth, then add eggs one at a time, beating until incorporated. Stir in cherries. Allow batter to rest for 15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Butter muffin cups taking care to coat the cups as well as the area around the top as well.
Fill cups 3/4 full and bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Without opening the oven door, lower the heat to 350 degrees F and bake 10 minutes longer. Do not open the oven during baking!
Remove from oven, pierce tops with a knife to let the steam escape, and allow to cool in pan for 5 minutes.
Remove from pan, and serve.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
What a wonderful thing is the mail, capable of conveying across continents a warm human hand clasp.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
If you are in doubt whether to write a letter or not, don't. And the advice applies to many doubts in life besides that of letter writing.
Edward Bulwer Lytton
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Yum on the cherry popovers! I think sadly gone are the days of receiving or writing a letter that goes through the regular mail. I have sent birthday cards and sadly sympathy cards through the mail this year, but no regular just letters. You are right, so much is done through email these days. I remember having pen pals when growing up and the fun of receiving a letter from them. I'm not sure the generation behind us and subsequent ones would even know how to write a letter to send by mail. A lost art indeed.

I cannot remember the last handwritten letter I got either. And, no, I don't think they teach it in schools anymore. Have a great Labor Day weekend!!
