17 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:59 am
Sunset: 7:53 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Labor Day which is dedicated in honor of the worker, it is also appropriately called the workingman's holiday. The holiday is dedicated to you in respect and appreciation for the work you do in or outside of the home, union or nonunion, big company, small companies, or government. As long as you work somewhere at something, this holiday is for you!
Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. While the Fall Equinox is still a couple of weeks away, kids go back to school and summer vacations are over. Many people celebrate this weekend with one last picnic. It is also the date that many people close up the pool, and put away the boats.
Happy Labor Day!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Work has to include our deepest values and passions and feelings and commitments, or it's not work. It's just a job.
Matthew Fox
Although it still feels very much like summer here, I have always thought of Labor Day as the end of summer. We
know from past experience that these lovely summer days will very soon come to an end. Fall is beautiful but leads into winter which always seems to last forever.
While I won’t miss the lawn mowing and soon the leaf raking, I really don’t like to shovel snow at all. I’m just trying my hardest to enjoy what lovely days remain.
Years ago now we’d always go to the Great Trail Festival on Labor Day weekend and today’s pictures are of the last trip we made there. It’s a replication of the French traders and the Indians that met along the Great Trail to trade their wares.
Happy Labor Day all !
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Cheese Pizza Day!
Although we are all fond of piling toppings onto our favourite pizzas, the humble cheese pizza is celebrated with Cheese Pizza Day. It is estimated that there are more than 70,000 pizzerias across the United States.
It’s easy to make your own and I’m sharing a pizza recipe made with my favorite baking mix, Bisquick.
Easy Cheese Pizza
1 1/1 cups Bisquick baking mix
1/3 cup very hot water
1 can, 8 ounces, pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Move oven rack to lowest position. Heat oven to 450 degrees. Grease 12 inch pizza pan. Stir baking mix and water until soft dough forms. Pat dough in pizza pan, using fingers dipped in baking mix; pinch edge, forming 1/2 inch rim. Spread pizza sauce over crust. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until crust is brown and cheese is bubbly.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Heaven is blessed with perfect rest but the blessing of earth is toil.
Henry van Dyke
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4195. for all those who labor
4196. for a long holiday weekend
4197. for pizza, cheese is good
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The end of labor is to gain leisure.
Aristotle
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I like that cheese pizza recipe. Would be fun to make with a child :) So true how Labor Day seems to signify the end of summer though there are still a few more weeks left of it on the calendar. Days shorter, cooler temps, and just a different focus from summer fun to now fall activities, schools, sports, etc. How fast the seasons seem to go!

We had planned to celebrate today with a picnic. But Darain got called to work. So we will wait for another day. I will try that easy cheese pizza recipe. Hope your day is a good one!
Well, if we can't witness the dramatic change in seasons you enjoy up there ... I really enjoy the photos you share.
For some reason I'm reluctant to examine too closely, that first image of the barn really speaks to my heart. Americana, the way it's SUPPOSED to be.
They don't do labor day over here in the UK. I miss it. It was like the last opportunity to have a blow out before school began. I don't get to rake leaves over here either. We dont have much in the way of trees in our yard. Love the looks of the pizza! Hope you have a fabulous week! God bless! xoxo
