THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Women
Women have strengths that amaze men. They
carry children, they carry hardships, they carry
burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream. They
sing when they want to cry. They cry when they
are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
Women wait by the phone for a 'safe at home
call' from a friend after a snowy drive home.
Women have special qualities about them. They
volunteer for good causes. They are pink ladies
in hospitals, they bring food to shut ins. They are
childcare workers, executives, attorneys, stay
at home moms, biker babes and your neighbors.
They wear suits, jeans, and they wear uniforms.
They fight for what they believe in. They stand up
for injustice. They are in the front row at PTA
meetings They vote for the person that will do
the best job for family issues. They walk and talk
the extra mile to get their children in the right
schools and for getting their family the right
healthcare. They write to the editor, their
congressmen and to the 'powers that be’ for
things that make for a better life. They don't take
no for an answer when they believe there is
a better solution.
They stick a love note in their husband's lunch
box. They do without new shoes so their children
can have them. They go to the doctor with a
frightened friend. They love unconditionally.
Women are honest, loyal, and forgiving. They
are smart, knowing that knowledge is power.
But they still know how to use their softer side
to make a point. Women want to be the best for
their family, their friends, and themselves.
They cry when their children excel and cheer
when their friends get awards. They are happy
when they hear about a birth or a new marriage.
Their hearts break when a friend dies. They have
sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they
are strong when they think there is no strength
left. A woman's touch can cure any ailment.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a
broken heart.
Women come in all sizes, in all colors and
shapes. They live in homes, apartments and
cabins. They drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you. The
heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth. They bring
joy and hope. They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
And all they want back is a hug, a smile and for
you to do the same to people you come in contact
with. Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.
This is a note of appreciation to some wonderful women...

I do know lots of wonderful women and am thankful to say that some of them are my friends. Good friendships require walking with one another down some hard roads, losses, a bad diagnosis, financial problems and much more. We need friends to help us remember what God has done for us and that He will be faithful.
It means you bear your own hurts along with those of your friend. You cry when they cry and laugh when they laugh and feel like your heart will break wide open when you face not having them by your side. Real friendship takes effort. It’s forgiving and loving, making a casserole, and doing a carpool pickup.
Hopefully I’ll be spending some time today with some wonderful women. If the weather clears up we will be doing our last Sunday dinner tailgating at the park for this year. It won’t be nice enough again at all for picnics till sometime late next Spring.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Cheeseburger Day is today. Top off America's favorite sandwich, with a piece of cheese.
The Best Ever Cheeseburger
2 lbs regular hamburger
1 cup shredded Monterrey jack cheese
1/4 cup purple sweet onion diced very fine
1/4 cup Honey Barbecue Sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Mix those five ingredients together in a bowl and mix very well. Put plastic wrap on the bowl and set it in the refrigerator for at least two hours. All night is okay.
The next day, take your mixed-up hamburger meat out of the refrigerator and make it out into hamburger patties. Each patty should weigh about four ounces and you want to press them together tightly. Once you have the grill hot and the burgers ready, go ahead and put the burgers on the grill.
Melt slices of real cheddar cheese on top of each hamburger patty. Remember they already have the shredded Monterrey Jack cheese inside the hamburger patties. Top off with lettuce, ripe tomatoes and dill pickle chips and special sauce.
This sauce makes the average burger or cheeseburger into something special that you'll never forget and it's really easy to make.
1 teaspoon Lawry's Seasoning Salt.
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Put all of these ingredients in a bowl and whisk it together. It's important that all of your ingredients get mixed together very well. Chill the sauce covered in the refrigerator. It tastes better on your cheeseburgers that way.
Makes 8 quarter pound burgers

Hey! I made a salad dressing England and it was very much like the sauce for the cheeseburger that you made here! And I love the recipe for the cheeseburger, thanks!
LOVE this post honoring women, your posts are always so well thought out! Take care!
Enjoy your time with the family today, Ma. I like the essay written about women. Pretty much covered a like of a woman and mothet.

That's an adorable jack-o-lantern in your first photo, Ma. Did you make him?
Personally, I can't think of ANYthing more tasty than a cheeseburger. I never thought about using soy sauce! Lately, I've taken to smearing the top with Marie's blue cheese dressing.
The possibilities are endless, aren't they!
I hope you're having a wonderful time with your friends today!
Your cheeseburgers sound fabulous Pam! I am bookmarking the recipe! I love a good cheeseburger! I don't know where I would be without my women friends! They mean the world to me. Todd doesn't have a lot of male friends. I don't think men need friends as much as women do! Have a fabulous week! Thanks for all that you share! xoxo
