Ahoy, Matey! Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. It's a day just for fun, a day to let out the pirate in each of us. We all like 'just for fun' days and important to take time for fun once in awhile.
Practice up your 'pirate-speak' in anticipation of this day. The conversation will be lively, and you don't want to be left behind. Today, everyone will be talking the talk, if not walking the walk. It is not a requirement to dress like a pirate today. Just talk like one.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
John Bay
Thanks to one of the cartoons that the grand babes watch, many of them enjoy dressing up like a pirate. Our little X factor and his parents provided the pictures for today. They were taken a few years ago, but are the only pirate pictures I could find in my picture album this morning.
We all need to have some fun. All work and no play makes us dull they say. So just for fun, I’ll try to remember to talk like a pirate today. Yo, Ho, Ho!
In our hectic, modern lives, many of us focus so heavily on work and family commitments that we never seem to have time for pure fun. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, we’ve stopped playing. While play is crucial for a child’s development, it is also beneficial for people of all ages. Play can add joy to life, relieve stress, supercharge learning, and connect you to others and the world around you. Play can also make work more productive and pleasurable.
We had a great time at the park yesterday. Our last hurrah to summer so to speak. We’ll have a few nice days ahead but with fall also comes a change of weather here in our part of the world. They do say that this week our temps will hover right around 80 degrees which is a little above average for us this time of year.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Butterscotch Pudding Day which gives us good reason to enjoy a tasty dessert. Okay, so Butterscotch may not be as popular as vanilla or chocolate. But, it sure is good.
BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING DESSERT
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. Cool Whip
1 pkg. butterscotch pudding
1 pkg. coconut cream pudding
3 c. milk
First layer: Mix first 3 ingredients and pat in 9 by 13 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool add:
Second layer: Mix together cream cheese and powdered sugar; fold in Cool Whip. Spread on top of cooled crust.
Third layer: Mix butterscotch pudding and coconut cream pudding. Add milk; cook. When cool, spread on top of second layer in pan. Spread whipped cream on top of cooled pudding. Add nuts to top if you wish.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It is a happy talent to know how to play.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4237. for a picnic, saying good bye to summer
4238. for pirates, time for some fun
4239. for another new week, another chance to get it right
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
For a good life: Work like a dog. Eat like a horse. Think like a fox. And play like a rabbit.
George Allen
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

How cute all the pirate pictures :) Glad you enjoyed the time at the park, Ma, and that the weather held up so you all could enjoy the gathering :) Hard to believe we are winding down the month of September already!

My favorite pudding is butterscotch!!
Love your Pirates Pam! What a sweet family you have! I love Butterscotch anything. Reminds me of my father who always had butterscotch wafers in his top dresser drawer when we were growning up. We naughty kids use to sneak one now and again! Have a great day! God bless you! Thanks so much for all that you share!! xoxo
