Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Teddy Bear Day. A Teddy Bear is a special friend to children all over the world. He's cuddly. He makes you feel secure in an otherwise insecure world. He's lovable. Our Teddy Bears are both a companion and a comforter. No child should grow up without a teddy bear. If you know of any child without one, use this day to buy a teddy bear for them.
The American toy bears were named Teddy, in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt, who had refused to shoot a small captured bear on a hunting trip. Many teddy bears have become famous over the years, including Paddington Bear, Rupert Bear, Pudsey Bear and, of course, Winnie the Pooh.
Have a happy Teddy Bear Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Teddy Bears don’t need hearts as they are already stuffed with love.

I still have a few teddy bears here at my house. We don’t do much cuddling as they mostly sit on the shelf for decoration.
Our chances of rain more or less dissipated. When I went out to the store this week there was a huge downpour just about the time I came out to get in the car, but when I got home everything was dry. Just very spotty rain here. They are now saying our biggest chance of rain will be tomorrow. I’m hoping that doesn’t fade away too.
Due to the heat several schools in the area closed Wednesday and Thursday because they don’t have air conditioning. Many of our older buildings only have fans to keep cool. Still as far as I know the city schools remained open. Very hot and unusually dry days here.
Keep cool everyone!
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Wienerschnitzel Day!
In German ‘schnitzel' means a boneless veal cutlet. Add bread crumbs and fry it, and you have Wiener Schnitzel. Variations of the dish exist in many cultures throughout the world.
Wienerschnitzel
4 veal cutlets, pounded very thin, scallopini style
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 cup flour
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons water
2 cups plain, dry bread crumbs
Vegetable oil, for frying
Lemon wedges, for service
Pat the veal cutlets dry with paper towels. Season them with salt and pepper. Set up a standard breading procedure in 3 shallow bowls or pie plates. Put flour in 1, eggs and water in another, and bread crumbs in the last. Beat the eggs and water together. Dredge each of the veal cutlets first in flour, then egg wash and then the bread crumbs. Transfer the coated cutlets to a platter.
Heat a large straight sided skillet, filled half way up with vegetable oil, over medium-high heat. Carefully, transfer the coated cutlets into the hot oil to fry. Since they are so thin, the veal will cook very quickly, about 2 minutes per side. Drain the cutlets on a paper towel lined plate. Serve with lemon wedges.
Makes 4 servings.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It’s not where you are in life. It’s who you have by your side that matters.

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
A bear, no matter how hard he tries, grows tubby without exercise.

I didn't know that is how the teddy bears got their name. Always fun to snuggle with one, no matter what your age. I do hope it cools down a bit for you all. I remember school days when it was hot and feeling miserable in class.

My youngest son had a teddy bear when he was small. He named it Mr. Ted E. Bear. We kept it and passed it on to his daughter when she was small. She's now 16 and still sleeps with it at night. I am sure her child will someday love it too!
