IT’S FINALLY FRIDAY !!
My weekend begins today at 5:00. I’m going to come home, put the fleecey pj’s on and relax. I can hardly wait.
We had some rain and by tonight may see some much colder weather come our way and maybe snow again. Tomorrow is the last day of February and we still have March and maybe even April for chances of snow. If March comes in like a lion they say it’ll go out like a lamb.
I’ll be counting sheep in my dreams. Camping season begins April 3rd so I would like April to be snow free. Our family Easter celebration will be the weekend before the Easter which is also the weekend the Campground opens. So I won’t be camping that weekend, but from then on out I plan to be there every weekend til the end of October.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
O God,
lead us from death to life,
from falsehood to truth.
Lead us from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Lead us from hate to love,
from war to peace.
Let peace fill our hearts,
our world, our universe.
Amen
The Universal Prayer of Peace
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is Read Five Pages in the Dictionary Day
Today is International Polar Bear Day
Polar Bear Day celebrates the world's largest carnivore. A polar bear can grow up to nine feet tall(when standing) and 1400 pounds. They are a favorite at zoos around the country. Polar bears live at the North Pole region, and are native to Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Norway, and Russia
No Brainer Day - now this day is for me! By definition, a "No brainer" is dong something that is simple, easy, obvious, and/or totally logical. Therefore, today is the day for you to do all those "no brainer" tasks and activities. If a project requires thinking, study, or analysis of any kind, then its not the chore to do today
National Read Your Warranty Day - On the birthday of consumer advocate Ralph Nader, take your car in for a check-up. Make sure that your car is safe. Ralph was born on this day in 1934, in Winsted, Connecticut
Romantic poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807–1882) was born on this day in Portland, Maine, the son of a prominent Congressman. After college, he studied abroad and taught at Harvard University before devoting himself full-time to writing poetry.
They will hammer their swords
so that they become ploughs.
Their spears will be forged
into pruning-hooks.
Nations will never go to war again;
there will be no more training for war
Originally February had 30 days. Julius Caesar took one day and added it to the month named after him - July. Later, Emperor Augustus took another day from February and added it to the month named for him – August
SOMETHING TO DO FOR LENT
With the first Friday in Lent, abstinence from meat comes to the family table. Serving a meatless meal is meant to promote sacrifice
One of our favorites is rice and bean tostados or tacos. It's instant brown rice, chopped onion, and once that is simmering, you add a can red beans in chili sauce. Stir that, then add a can of corn (drained). Mix it together and heat. Then serve it as tacos or over heated flat tortillas w/ lettuce. We use cheese, but it's flavored enough to omit the cheese
TODAY’S LENTEN REFLECTION
The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.
TODAY’S ADVICE
A small quantity of green sage placed in a pantry will keep out red ants
