HAPPY TUESDAY !!

There was snow on our rooftops Monday. Nothing accumulated on the ground though. East of us could get 1-4 inches they say. That is over where DS#3 and his family live. More snow coming our way by the weekend too.

I have to put a plug in for our ‘Sweetheart’.
She has been chosen to serve as the Honorary Child Ambassador at the upcoming Stroll for Epilepsy (Jan. 31st, 2008) for the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio.
This grand’ma’ will be there to support her for sure!

Eternal and Loving God, we are so thankful for the men and women that You have raised up to serve our country with honor, dignity and commitment in the past and present, in war time and times of peace, in combat or on the home front. We remember them today as they have served with honor, dignity, courage and commitment.

We ask You to bless them in the sacrifices they have made to give of themselves for the cause of freedom. We ask You to surround them and their families with your love and protection as many continue to serve on the front lines.

In their times of loneliness and despair, we ask You to be their unseen hand that will lift them up to see a brighter day. We remember those who have lost their lives in service, and we applaud their selfless acts as well as their families that released them to serve. As You have blessed this nation as the land of the free and the home of the brave, we extend this blessing to every branch of our military, and ask that your continued strength and power be with us in the days ahead.
We thank You that their service has not been in vain, and we salute them with honor today and every day. Believing that You are willing and able to hear and answer, we ask in Jesus Name, Amen

TODAY IS…ARMISTICE DAY

This is Armistice Day or Remembrance Day or Veterans Day or Victory Day or World War I Memorial Day. The name of this special day may be different in different places throughout many nations; but its significance is the same

It was on this day at 11 a.m. in 1918 that World War I ceased. The Allied and Central Powers signed an armistice agreement at 5 a.m. in Marshal Foch’s railway car in the Forest of Compiegne, France.
Many still bow their heads in remembrance

Today is Washington Admission Day. Washington became the 42nd U.S. state on this date in 1889. Known as the Evergreen State because of its rich stands of Douglas fir, white and ponderosa pine, and spruce trees, Washington calls the willow goldfinch its state bird. 1918: At 5:00 a.m. French Army clerk Henri Deledicq finished typing the peace treaty that would end World War I. He had put the carbon paper in backwards. Ten minutes later, in a railroad car in France, military leaders signed copies of an armistice that were completely unreadable

1940: Willys Motors introduced the first Jeep. The name came from the initials "G-P" in "General Purpose" vehicle

Why is Veterans Day November 11?

Because that's the anniversary of the end of World War I. Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day. In 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor ALL US veterans, not just those that fought in World War I.

A ministry for people in the entertainment industry takes a refreshing alternative to gossip. They combat it with prayer. Instead of putting down famous people who get in trouble with bad choices, they encourage people to pray for them

Among God’s commands to His people is “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Ex. 20:16). While this may be talking primarily about lying at judicial proceedings, gossip could also be included in the command because it violates the law of love toward our neighbor.
