ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
THURSDAY,JANUARY 6TH, 2022
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Three Kings Day which is also called Epiphany which is a Christian holiday that commemorates the biblical story of the three kings — Melchior, Caspar, and Balthaszar. The three kings, also known as the magi, followed the bright star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child.
Traditionally in Latin American, children dress up in king costumes and go for to do in the neighborhoods singing carols in the days leading up to Three Kings Day. In Argentini a sweet wine, fruit and milk are left out for the three kings and their camels to enjoy. In France, people eat Gallette des Rois, or king cake, which has a trinket or bean hidden in it. The person that receives the piece of cake with the trinket is king for the day.
Three Kings Day always falls at the end of Christmastide —also know as the 12 Days of Christmas. Traditionally this is the day when all the Christmas trees and decorations are taken down. Happy Three Kings Day !
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We Three Kings of Orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain,
Moor and mountain,
Following yonder Star.
John Henry Hopkins Jr.
This will be the day I take all my Christmas decorations down and pack them away to be stored outside in the storage shed. That also means cleaning house and putting out new throws on the couch and chairs and new scarfs and table clothes on the furniture. I think winter is a blah sort of time so to cheer myself up I put out some Valentine decorations. It’s early but they do add some color here and cheer me up.
I also do a traditional door blessing at my house, It’s very simple and easy to do. All you need is a piece of chalk to mark your door tops called the lintel, with this blessing. 20 + C + M + B + 22 . It is called the chalking of the door. You can do a prayer to bless your door after you mark it. My prayer will be:
Bless all those that enter and depart from this house for ever more. Protect this house and keep it safe from evil.
The symbols change year to year, but the door blessing includes symbols for the first Initial of each of the kings, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar.plus the numbers of the current year.By using chalk it is easy to replace the number of the year.
Looks like it will be a busy day here with all I need to do. But I’ll be cozy and warm while I do it.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were shepherd
I would bring a lamb
If I were a Wise Man
I would do my part,
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.
Christina Rossetti

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I'm a seeker and a believer.
I'd not heard of the chalk door (lintel) blessing before. Love learning the meaning behind these traditions!
