ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FRIDAY,JANUARY 7TH, 2022
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Bubble Bath Day which celebrates a soothing way to relax. People have been enjoying warm baths for thousands of years. In Ancient Rome, bathing at a public facility was part of the daily routine for most citizens. A trip to the Roman baths might include a dip in the caldinium, hot top, a brief break int he laconicum, a sauna, and a refreshing swim int e frigidarnum, a cold pool.
Up until the 1940’s the average American bathed once a week for personal hygiene. Today a daily shower is standard, but its important to indulge in a luxurious soak ever once in a while. A bubble bath can help open up your pores, cleanse your skin and relax muscles.
To celebrate today, pick up a bottle of your favorite bubble bath product and fill your tub. Create a calming spa atmosphere with background music, candles and a towel to cushion your neck. Enjoy !
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won’t cure, but I don’t know many of them.
Sylvia Plath
I usually shower every day but a good hot bubble bath is always appreciated. They warm you up and take away the aches and pains. They are very relaxing and refreshing at the same time.
Since it is so cold here it’s the perfect time to warm up in the tub and soak in the hot water with bubbles. I have 2 sons that have hot tubs by their swimming pools, how I’d love to be in either one of them right now.
It’s Friday and I’m going to try out something very different today for supper On the menu is:
Apricot Crab Stuffed Acorn Squash
2 acorn squash quarters and seeds removed
1 cup apricot nectar, divided
1 tsp salt, divided
1 tsp. white pepper, divided
1 tsp butter
1 tsp olive oil
4 green onions thinly sliced, plus more for garnish
1/3 cup dried apricots chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup half and half cream
4 cans lump crabmeat, drained
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place squash in a greased baking dish. Drizzle with 1/4 cup apricot nectar . Sprinkle with 1/2 tsp. each salt and white pepper. Bake covered until fork tender, about 35 minutes.
Meanwhile in a large skillet, heat butter and oil over medium heat . Add green onions; cook and stir until tender. Add apricots and garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in half and half and the remaining apricot nectar, salt and white pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer for 5 minutes. Gently stir in crab meat. Heat through.
Arange squash on a serving dish; spoon the crab mixture over top. Sprinkle with additional green onions.
I didn’t have apricot nectar so used some apricot jelly instead, I’m hoping that gives the desired taste. I also didn’t have whole acorn squash so used some that came cubed that I had in the freezer. I’d prefer the whole, but will use what I have on hand.
Waste not want not.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
What a pure blessing it was to have a bath in a tub alone in a room where all you had to do was pump the water, not tote buckets. Then all you had to do was pull out the cork not tote more buckets to the back porch- - that kind of thing is easy to take lightly.
Nancy E. Turner
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
9871. for a good hot bubble bath, very relaxing
