ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SUNDAY,JANUARY 30TH, 2022
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Croissant Day which celebrates a flakey pastry that can be eaten at every mealtime. Croissants are crunchy on the outside, soft inside.
Although it is most likely a myth the history of the croissant is a colorful tale of adventure. In 1683 the Turkish Empire laid siege on Vienna, Austria. The Turks made several attempts to enter the city by force, but were unsuccessful. So they decided to dig an underground tunnel. The bakers of Vienna, who worked in the basement storerooms heard the sound of digging and alerted the army.
The bakers received high honors and thanks for their assistance in outwitting the Turks. In celebration they baked their bread in the shape of a crescent moon, the symbol of the Ottoman Empire. After the Turks were defeated, it became custom to serve morning coffee with the crescent shaped pastry.
The legend goes on to say that over a hundred years later, Marie Antoinette, and Austrian princess who married Louis XVI, introduced the pastry to the French who dubbed it a croissant.
To celebrate today, warm up a delicious croissant and enjoy it with a generous helping of butter. Yum!
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
I love having a croissant and a great cup of coffee. Just one cup.

I love croissants and have them often for sandwiches. I love a bacon egg and cheese croissant, a chicken salad croissant, and ham and cheese croissants. They are very flaky and delicious. I buy mine at the store and also keep refrigerated crescent rolls on hand.
We are some warmer today and in the 20’s. They say that by Tuesday, we’re going to reach the mid 40’s We’ll be having our January thaw in February this year. Along with the warmth we may also get some rain, but then it’ll get colder again and change to snow. By Friday, we’ll be back in the deep freeze.
I’m staying in today and not going out to church. I’ll stream services on line on my phone. They offer this service on facebook and I’m very thankful for it.
I didn’t get my needed walking done this past week and it’s not looking good for next week either. I only got out once and that was to the grocery store. BrrrChill! We’ll see how the weather goes….
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!!
