ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SUNDAY,JANUARY 23RD, 2022
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Pie Day which is an opportunity to enjoy a piece of delicious pie. Pies have a long and illustrious history, but the sweet filled treats we enjoy today are a relatively recent innovation. The Greeks and the Romans made some of the first pies in history. People filled pastry shells with different kinds of meat or seafood, flavored with a variety of spices and served them as part of the sweet course of the meal.
When the Pilgrims made their voyage to the New World in the late 1600’s they arrived with English recipes for beef, lamb, duck or pigeon pie. It wasn’t until the late 1800’s that the first sweet pies emerged. These featured the ingredients we are accustomed to today.By the 1940’s, pie had become an iconic American dessert.
Whether you prefer apple, berry, pumpkin, or sweet potato pie, bake your favorite pie recipe for dessert tonight and celebrate!
Today’s pictures are of one of the funniest games I ever played, called Pie in the Face. I played it with DS#5 and his family. Great fun in the wintertime!
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
We must have pie. Stress can’t exist in the presence of a pie.

My favorite pie, is Lemon Meringue, I don’t make them but get the Marie Callendar kind in the freezer section of the grocery store. They are delicious!
They are really refreshing in the summer, but I also like them in the winter. Anything citricy seems to taste good to me, My mom used to make them all the time and even though I have a recipe, I take the easy way out.
The kind of pies I make these days are called Impossible Pies that you make using Bisquick and you don’t need to rollout a crust.
We are to get more snow on the ground today along with the bitter cold. It’s been so cold, I had to turn my heat up to maintain a decent temp in here. Yesterday morning I called the maintenance department to check on my furnace as it was unusually chilly in here. They said nothing was wrong with the furnace it was just because it was so cold outside and these homes are not well insulated. So I turned the themostat up a few notches and it’s been fine ever since.
It’s a balmy 73 degrees in here. I’m going to venture out to church today as DS#5 has offered to give me a ride. Otherwise I’ll be staying in and keeping warm.
Here’s hoping the weather will change soon and we ‘ll warm up a little.
Keep warm and safe everyone !
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Hope is a real thing. It’s not pie in the sky.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Enjoy some pie today, it'll make you happy!
That game does look like fun!
Gosh, I've not thought about lemon meringue pie in years. It's certainly refreshing, as is key lime. But I don't see that outside Florida so often.
Like my son, I'd rather have a birthday pie than a cake any time!
Happy Sunday!
I want pie, right now.
That game looked fun and what great pictures. My favorite pie is pecan but don't eat it often.
