ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
WEDNESDAY,NOVEMBER 17TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Homemade Bread Day which celebrates freshly baked bread wafting through the air. For hundreds of years baking fresh bread was part of the daily routine for most families. Some even made their own yeast.
Today homemade bread making has been simplified by the invention of the bread maker machine. This appliance was first released in Japan in 1986. Since then, its popularity has spread worldwide to Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Some bread machines can also be set to make other things such as dough, jam or Japanese style rice cakes.
To celebrate today, find a recipe for your favorite type of bread and try your hand at some homemade bread baking.
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
God gives us the ingredients for our dialy bread, but he expects us to do the baking.
Chip Ingram
I don’t bake bread very often, I buy it at the store. Back in the day it was called white bread. At my grandmothers house she made bread every morning in the form of biscuits. They were made frsesh every morning and even the sandwiches we had were on a biscuit. White bread was a rare thing and usually bought by someone else when they came visiting.
When I do bake bread, it is called a quick bread which means it takes no raising time and no kneading. It doesn’t contain yeast.
My favorite kind to make is banana bread. I always have ripe bananas on hand and they meke very good bread. I love it spread with a little cream cheese and make it into a sandwich to enjoy.
DDIL#4 makes beer Bread and it is delicious and of course we all love corn bread. This time of year also seams to bring out our family favorite Sausage Bread for the holidays. That is shown in the picture above
But for today, I won’t be making bread. On the menu today is:
Chicken Mushroom Stew
Makes 6 servings
6 bonesless skinless chicken breast halves
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil, divided
8 oz. mushrooms, sliced
1 onion diced
3 cups diced zucchini
1 cup chopped green pepper
4 garlic cloves minced
3 tomatoes, chopped
1 can, 6 oz., tomato paste
3/4 cup water
2 tsp. each dried thy, oregano, marjoram, and basil
Chopped fresh thyme, optional
Cut chicken into 1 inch cubes, brown in 1 Tbsp. oil in large skillet. Transfer to a slow cooker. In the same skillet, sauté the mushrooms, onion, zucchini, and green pepper in remaining oil until crisp tender. Add garlic, cook 1 minute longer.
Place in slow cooker. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, water and seasonings. Cover and cook on low 4 hours until the meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender. If desired top with freshly chopped thyme.
This would go good over some biscuits and I have a can of refrigerator biscuits on hand.
It’s also my day to go grocery shopping and as usual I’ve made up a menu for next week to do my shopping from.
On the menu is:
Monday - Turkey Cordon Bleu Casserole
Wednesday - Turkey Stuffed Acorn Squash
Friday - Veggie Pizza with Herbed Tomato Crust
Weekend - Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin
There is only a very slight chance of a shower today and it’s supposed to be much warmer with a high of 65 degrees. So It will be a great day for me to get out and about.Tomorrow our temps will drop back down in the 40’s and it will be rainy most of the day.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

There is nothing quite as good as fresh warm bread
Exactly. It is time to make a loaf of quick bread.
My mouth's watering like crazy! Just about time I start gathering ripe bananas for my son's banana nut bread -- his birthday tradition for more years than I can recall.
