ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SUNDAY,NOVEMBER 14TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Pickle Day which celebrates a popular food that has been around thousands of years. In 2030 B.C. cucumbers were imported from India to the Tigris Valley. There, they were first preserved and eaten as pickles.
In ancient Egypt, people consumed pickles for the nutritional value and because they were thought to enhance beauty. Cleopatra attributed her good looks to her full diet of pickles. Centuries later, Napoleon believed that pickles offered health benefits for his armies, so he offered a huge cash prize to anyone who was able to preserve them safely.
Today we honor the culinary history of pickles. This versatile vegetable can be enjoyed as a condiment, a snack or a side dish. Stock up on your favorite kind of pickles and celebrate today!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Pickles are cucumbers that believed in miracles.

I love pickles and have quite a few varieties on hand. Sometimes I like the sweet ones and other times I like the dill. My mother always had a relish dish she sat on the table at dinner time and I have continued the tradition. That is what the pictures are of today. My relish dish full of pickles.
They go with most any meal and it’s good to offer a selection so everyone gets to choose their favorite. They are also good on sandwiches too. That’s why they make hamburger dills.
It’s a cold and bitter day here with winds coming out of the North. They say an Alberta Clipper is headed our way. An Alberta Clipper is a snow storm that comes from Alberta, Canada . If it comes our way it will be our first snow of the season. The winds blow across Lake Erie and bring snow our way.
I’ll be staying in and keeping warm today, but the snow won’t last long here because the ground is not frozen so it will melt off soon. I’m hoping the fellow that mows my grass will still be here this week. I called him to check and he said he hoped to be here mid week sometime, weather permitting.
He’ll be mulching up leaves more than cutting grass here. There is a blanket of leaves on the ground and my tree is about half bare. So sadly there will still be more coming my way.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I’ve found life to be a lot like a pickle. It is how we treat the day that makes it sour or sweet.

Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Good ideas, like good pickles, are crisp, enduring , and devilishly hard to make.

Pickles are good and good for you too.
Your relish dish looks so pretty! Tom enjoys his favorite every week, but I haven't crunched into a big fat delicious dill in years. Wish I knew about Cleopatra's secret years ago, lol.
