ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 27TH, 2021
The moments our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Small Business Saturday which was founded by American Express in 2010. The day encourages consumers to shop local and support small businessmen in their community. Since its inception, the day has become an annual shopping tradition for many families during the holidays
Small Business Saturday was initiated in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis as a way of positively impacting local businesses and neighborhoods.
Small businesses face tough financial challenges and this day serves as a reminder to support local entrepanneures every day.
On this day many local shops will participate in community events and offer special promotions. You can find places to shop small this year to shop and if you can’t make it out today, you can still support your community and share your favorites local businesses .
If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Most of the small businesses are owned for the purpose of sharing happiness instead of just accumulating wealth.

Small businesses are hard to find in my neighborhood. All the big chain stores have taken over. We used to have corner stores all over and I would pass 3 or 4 just walking to school. If I happened to need notebook paper or a candy bar, I would find one on the way to school. Now they are all gone and boarded up. We even had a local family owned grocery store that was wonderful. The service was good and they had everything you could want. It too eventually closed up and went out of business. Mom and Pop restaurants used to be very popular too, but now we only have the big chain restaurants with higher costs and not as good menus.
I mostly do my own cooking and seldom go out to eat unless it’s a special occasion and on the menu for today is :
Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin
Makes 4 servings
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp rubbed sage
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 pork tenderloin roast
1 tsp. butter
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1 1/4 tsp. Dijon mustard
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix seasonings, sprinkle on pork. In a nonstick skillet heat butter over medium heat; brown tenderloin on all sides and transfer to a foil lined pan. Roast 10 minutes.
Meanwhile for glaze, in same skillet, mix syrup, vinegar and mustard. Bring to a boil, stirring to loosen up browned bits from pan. Cook and stir until slightly thickened. Remove from the heat.
Brush 2 Tbsp. glaze over pork; continue roasting until a thermometer insterted in pork reads 145 degrees.brushing halfway through with remaining glaze. Making sure your pork is completely done and not pink in the middle. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
I always have some applesauce as a side with pork and today I’ll be having a baked sweet potato as well.
This weekend I’m putting away all the fall decorations inside and out in preparation for decorating for Christmas. It will take me a while to put it all away and when my son gets over to get the Christmas bins out of the storage shed I’ll be ready to decorate for Christmas. They say we could see some snow showers later today so the outside will take care of itself. All my leaves on the ground will turn into a winter wonderland.
One of my families favorite activities this time of year is making gingerbread houses and that is what the pictures are of today. DS#5 and family made some to show off.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Run a home like you would a small business and treat it with the same seriousness.
