The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Balloons Around the World Day which celebrates the joy and delight that balloons bring to our lives. to mark the occasion, balloon artists will showcase the art of ballon twisting and decorating.
The first rubber balloons were invented in 1824 by Professor Michael Faraday who used them for his experiments with hydrogen at the Royal Institution in London. Today millions of balloons are manufactured daily in a number of different countries,
Guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face, balloons come in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes and can be used to play a number different games or for colorful decoration. To celebrate this fun holiday, check out events in your neighborhood with local balloon artists or create some of your own balloon art.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.
A.A. Milne
To me, balloons always mean a special occassion. They mean a party of some sort or a happy time! I love getting and giving them and try to do so often. There have many times, I’ve put a balloon in a birthday card. Ballons can say happy birthday, congratulations or bon voyage. They are always a welcome surprise!
For today, I got my weekly menu completed and have made up my grocery list. I’ve also decided to do my own shopping and give DD a break this week I’ve gone out a few times now and am getting more confident each time. I put my mask on and keep a safe distance and wash my hands good when I get home.
Menu for next week:
Monday - Pork and Cranberry Potpie, using up pork from the weekend roast.
Tuesday - Creamy chicken and rice soup
Wednesday - Meatloaf dinner
Thursday - Italian Turkey Meatballs
Friday - Cornbread Chicken Casserole
Weekend - Beef Roast Dinner
On the menu for today is:
Penne Pasta with Sausage, Butternut Squash and Spinach
8 oz whole wheat penne
2 cups diced butternut squash
4 cups chopped spinach
1 cup diced smoked turkey sausage
1/2 cup finely chopped shallots
2 tbsp. butter
1 chopped fresh sage
2 tbsp. flour
2 cups milk
1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese, plus more for serving.
1/2 tsp salt
pinch of nutmeg
Crushed red pepper flakes for garnish
Bing pot of water to boil. Add past and cook for 2 minus. Add squash and cook for 6 minutes. Add spinach and cook until the pasta is tender. Drain and return to pot
Meanwhile combine sausage, shallots and butter in large sauce pan over medium heat. Cook until shallots are soft. Add sage and sprinkle with flour; cook stirring for about 1 minute. Whisk in milk and cook, whisking occasionally until sauce starts to thicken. Stir in cheese, salt and nutmeg. Cook until cheese is melted and sauce is thick.
Pour the sauce over pasta mixture and stir to coat. Serve with more cheese and pepper flakes, if desired.
Makes 6 servings
Sadly I don’ t have any balloon pictures to share today but I found a few more of DD's family having fall pumpkin fun.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Compliments are the helium that fills everyone’s balloon, they can elevate the person receiving them so he or she can fly over life’s troubles and land safely on the other side.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I've never tried making anything with butternut squash before, but this recipe with the sausage and spinach sounds delish! I don't have occasion to send many cards -- but enclosing a balloon is such a cute idea, I'm going to start that. No matter one's physical age, I think we're all kids at heart.
Woo-hoo on getting out and shopping! I hope it's not terribly stressful and you enjoyed it.
How cute to send a balloon in a card. I hadn't thought of doing it. We haven't played with balloons in a bit but always a favorite of the wee one and even his 15 year old sister. Good that you are getting out and shopping Ma. With social distancing and masks it really is not that unsafe out and of course plenty of handwashing. I like the recipe with the butternut squash; will have to try it.
