ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Chocolate day which is what we’ve been waiting for, another reason to eat more chocolate. Americans consume an average of 12 pounds per person per year.
Valentine’s Day and Easter are two of the top holidays for buying chocolate but you can’t forget about Christmas or Halloween. However, many will argue that chocolate is best enjoyed year round.
To celebrate today, enjoy some chocolate with each meal today. Try hot choclate or chocolate donuts for breakfast, A fun lunch idea is to pear your favorite dish with a tall glass of chocolate milk. For dinner try a traditional mole sauce which is made with cocoa powder. Top it all off with a decadent chocolate dessert.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Anything is good if it’s made of chocolate.
Jo Brind
One of my favorite ways to enjoy chocolate these cold days to have a cup of hot chocolate and that is what my pictures are of today. I have it often to warm me up. They were taken last Christmas when I had added a candy cane to the mix for chocolate mint.
But for today I don’t have any chocolate recipes to share, I’m having another cold weather food and that is;
Chili with Sweet Potatoes and Turkey
Serves 6
1 tbsp olive oil
1 pound ground turkey
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp minced seeded canned chipotle pepper in adobo sauce.
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
2 medium sweet potatoes peeled and diced
2 cups chicken broth
3/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp. lime juice
1 chopped avalado for garnish, if desired
Heat oil in large pot over medium high heat. Add turkey; cook, stirring often to crumble, until browned . Add onion and garlic; cook stirring often until soffened. Add chipotle; cook, stiring constantly until fragrant. Stir in tomatoes, sweet potatoes, broth and salt. Bring to a simmer over medium high heat. Cover; reduce heat to medium and simmer until the sweet potatoes are tender.
Uncover the pot and continue simmering over medium heat; stirring occassionally until chili slightly thickens or until desired consistency. Stir in lime juice.
Divide chili evenly into bowls and garnish with avocado if desired.
You can also garish with cheese, chopped scallion and a dollop of sour cream which will work well too.
I think I’ll be having this with some fresh baked corn bread today. It’s good weather to turn the oven on.
It’s my day to grocery shopping so I made up a menu for next week in order to make my shopping list :
Bean Burritos
Mini pizzas
Beef Stroganoff
Baked Chicken thighs with baked potatoes
Tuna Casserole
Baked Pork chops
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
As with most fine things, chocolate has its season. There is a simple memory aid that you can use to determine whether it’s the correct time to order chocolate. dishes: any month whose name contains the letter A, E, or U is the proper time for chocolate.

Hot chocolate warms us up and makes us feel good too!
Your dinner and menu sound great! I just made a batch of brownies so I guess I'm celebrating National Chocolate Day! :)
We had no idea today's National Chocolate Day! Still, Tom brought home a baker's box of chocolate doughnuts from a new neighborhood bakery -- Kingdom Dough. Isn't that cute?
Chocolate and chili sounds like a win-win!
I'm going to treat myself to some chocolate on Halloween, taking a piece or two from the bags we bought to pass out candy if kids come by. Another yummy recipe with a week ahead of yummy food! Enjoy!
