ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH, 2020

The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Handbag Day which recognizes the versatile and utilitarian bag that goes by many names
Not only do handbags come in many shapes and sizes they can be the size of an envelope or almost as large as an overnight bag. They are available in every imaginable color and designs from go from zebra prints to calf skin and rhinestones. There truly is something for every taste and style.
Call it what you will- pocketbook, clutch, reticule, purse or pouch - they’ve been coming in handy for thousands of years. The earliest designs were a means of survival, but that didn’t stop the user from being creative. Whether they carried tools, ceremonial accessories or gear, the user often decorated them with beads or died the material. Complex pockets organized eve the most elaborate sets of accessories.
Today, the availability of synthetic and natural fibers, allows for even more variety in design, bags offer a range os sizes and style. Whether packing light, casual or sophisticated, these purses offer much to the modern user.
To celebrate today, a good purse cleaning out might be in order.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Every woman should have a purse of her own.
Susan B. Anthony
I have a lot of purses, but don’t have any pictures of them. I fell in love with the Vera Bradly bags several years ago and collected quite a few of them, but they are not the only ones I have. I like the ones with lots of pockets which help to keep me organized.
I have seasonal bags and all purpose bags. Some I save for dress up and others are everyday. I tend to carry a lot of things and sometimes they get too heavy. Usually when I need to clean out my change purse. All that change can really weigh one down.
I haven’t bought any new ones in a long time. I have enough variety to last me a long time.
Today is my day to cook for the weekend so I don’t have to bother on Sunday, my day of rest.
I’ll be making:
Pulled Pork Tenderloin with Vidalia Onion BBQ Sauce
Serves 8
BBQ Sauce:
1 tbsp. oil
2 sweet onions, grated
2 1/2 c. ketchup
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp. Lemon juice
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp pepper
1 pinch of cayenne pepper, or to taste
Pulled Pork
2 sweet onions, sliced
2 lbs pork tenderloin, trimmed.
1 tsp pepper
2 cups Vidalia Onion BBQ Sauce or other barbecue sauce
To prepare sauce: Heat oil in saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and cool until translucent. Add ketchup, vinegar, lemon juice, Worcestershire, mustard, pepper and cayenne. Bring to boil over high heat. Reduce to a low simmer and cook, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes. Makes 4 cups.
To prepare pork: Place sliced onions in slow cooker. Add pork, season with pepper and top with 2 cups of sauce. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.
Using 2 forks, shred and pull pork into strips. Stir the pork into sauce.
Serve the pulled pork as part of a BBQ platter with pickles and cornbread or pile it on buns to make a delightfully messy sandwich.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

8540. for pause to carry, all my own
8541. for a crockpot, making dinner easy
8542. for friends, you can never have too many
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

It's a beautiful warm sunny day here in Ohio I hope you all have a super Saturday !
LOVE that cheery mum! Unlike my mother as well as my BF, I'm kind of ambivalent about handbags. Besides my 'fanny pack', I've only one I use regularly -- an over-the-shoulder affair I bought at Tampa's Police Supply back in 1980-something! For years I carried so many things in this attache-looking thing, my boss began referring to it as "Myra's diaper bag."
Today's recipe sounds delish! I'm copying and pasting to my on-line recipe box now. :)
Happy Saturday!
I have a handful of purses, but the one I use 99% of the time is a red leather fanny pack with lots of zippered sections. I love having my hands free while I shop or whatever. (And I never gave a good diddle about being "fashionable"...)
Have a wonderful weekend, dear lady.
I didn't use a purse for years when I was working from home. Just had a card case for my driver's license and credit/debit cards. Now I use a backpack for work. I do have a black purse if I need it for dressing up since most of my dress up clothes are black in color. I'm definitely making this recipe; sounds so yummy!
betty
I use to love purses and bought a lot of them but not so much now, tend to use the same one summer and winter as mine is a light and dark gray. Love the pictures of your place.
