Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is not a day to brag or to boast. Its not a time to talk about your success or accomplishments. Why!? Because today is Be Humble Day!
Be Humble Day can be a humbling experience. That's exactly the intent of today. Humbleness is a good thing, a virtue. People much prefer a humble person to a braggart. Practice humbleness today, and everyday. It will serve you well in life.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Lord, where we are wrong, make us willing to change; where we are right, make us easy to live with.
Peter Marshall
I like to think that I’m a humble person, but I do know that is not always the case. Living by myself for so long causes me to be very self centered at times. However, the good Lord always finds a way to keep me humble. There has been many occasions that He has let me know just who is really in charge. I really do have to say that anything good I’ve had or done is all due to Him. I don’t think we need feel badly about ourselves in order to be humble, but we do have to place credit where credit is due.
There have been many times when I’ve had to eat humble pie. to admit I’ve made a mistake and that someone else is right. I certainly don’t know it all. I try to learn something new every day, but the more I know it seems the less I know. It’s better to eat humble pie than let anger harden the heart. Holding onto one's hatred and anger, instead of taking the first step toward peace, only makes people bitter, sad, resentful, jealous and envious.
You can’t undo your actions, but you can make it right. We do the right thing when we swallow our pride, admit our mistakes, and apologize to those we have wronged.
The picture above shows my array of Valentines decorations that got packed away this week. Slowly but surely I’m digging out the Spring stuff to place around the house. I need some color in my life right now. Looking outside we see nothing but white. On the bright side we do get the occasional blue sky and sunshine!
It’s another cold and snowy day here in northern Ohio. No mistakes about it, I’m barely hanging on, but the promise of Spring is what keeps me going.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday! Keep warm and keep safe !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The proud man counts his newspaper clippings, the humble man his blessings.
Fulton John Sheen
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. Sometimes it seems as if I’m repeating a lot of things that I’m thankful for, but no moment is really ever the same and every day is a new beginning. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2516. for the promise of Spring, which gives me hope
2517. for Sundays, a day to renew and refresh
2518. for tulips sitting on the shelf, artificial ones at that, but nice to look at.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Self praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble
John Madden
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

What a lovely Valentine's tableau, Ma!
I had to chuckle at your mention of 'humble pie.' We've a colleague who is almost eerily intelligent ... in spite of her youth, it seems there's nothing she doesn't know or can't do. Which is all well and good, except she spoils it by constantly telling us how smart/able she is. I said something to my boss the other day about K needing a slice of humble pie and she just look at me like, 'What????'
Hope some blue skies and rays of sunshine cross your path today!
I liked your Valentine decorations, Ma. Good idea to get some colorful spring decorations out to count down the days until the weather starts to improve. It is always good to try to be humble; does avoid the eating of humble pie indeed!
betty
Humble, that is a word you rarely see these days.
A lovely post, as always.
Sweet Valentine's decorations. Hope Spring arrives soon! xx
So sorry to hear you have yet more snow. I know my family is just about sick to death of it! I can well imagine you are too. I love the idea of a Humble day. Humble pie, tastes horrible, but we all have to eat it every now and then! Humility is one step closer to Godliness. It's not unachievable, but does take plenty of practice! Thanks for all that you share! xoxo
