Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Women in Blue Jeans Day, a time to celebrate all the women who grow the food we eat, tend the animals we need for dairy, eggs, and wool, and those who choose to live a different kind of life far from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a day to acknowledge the role rural women play in keeping America running from the barn and the field rather than from the board room. So take a moment to thank a woman farmer or rancher you know for tending the land, caring for the animals, and keeping food on your table.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You're Never Too Old for Blue Jeans
It’s always weird for me to think that women just started wearing jeans basically within the last century. I’m really showing my age here. When I was a child about the only time I did wear jeans is when I visited my grandparents farm. I remember one time in particular when I got some flannel lined jeans to keep warm. For years women wore skirts and dresses for work and play. I also knew many women on farms that wore dresses day in and out too. In high school, the boys wore blue jeans but never the girls. Oh my how time has changed.
Now a days jeans are a part of every day life, where ever you are. Jeans are worn by young and old. They go to work, to school, and even go to church. I own a few pairs of jeans, but they are not my favorite thing to wear. I like a comfy pair of sweat pants more than anything and they are warm in the wintertime.
There is a lot of hard work to farming, and I’m very grateful that I got to experience what it was like to live on one. The days spent there were long ago and only for short visits of a week or two at a time during my childhood. I’m a city girl but the time on the farm was time well spent.
We may reach mid 30’s today but more snow is to come our way. The pictures shown today are from this time last year when it looked like the snow was melting a little. That has not been the case here, we are only accumulating up more.
I hope you all have a Super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I have friends in overalls whose friendship I would not swap for the favor of the kings of the world.
Thomas A. Edison
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. Sometimes it seems as if I’m repeating a lot of things that I’m thankful for, but no moment is really ever the same and every day is a new beginning. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
There are two spiritual dangers in not owning a farm. One is the danger of supposing that breakfast comes from the grocery, and the other that heat comes from the furnace.
Aldo Leopold
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

You sure have a lot of snow Pam! Brrrr!! I can't really remember wearing Jeans much before I was about 15 or 16. My father would not allow us to wear trousers to school. We always had to wear dresses. Now of course it is more common to see women in trousers than in dresses! Like you I go for comfort and warmth most of the time. I only ever rarely wear a pair of jeans, opting more often for my stretchy trousers! My first husband came from a farming family. It was hard work, but a nice life. I have a lot of respect for farm wives. They work very hard! Hope your Saturday is a great one! Stay warm! xoxo
I had to laugh because I remember asking my boss if I could wear a polyester pantsuit to work. He laughed and said okay but I have nothing against legs. We wore the jeans when I was in grade school but then it was skirts until we got those pantsuits. LOL I'm telling my age too! Hope your weekend is happy.
I love my jeans. I am not comfortable in anything else. I could not dress up daily for work. lol I sure was hoping we would get some snow but it didn't happen. :(
I remember in high school we could only wear dresses or skirts except on Fridays we could wear pants and jeans. So true how the times have changed. Now I practically live in jeans :)
betty
We must be near the same age, Ma. I, too, don't recall wearing jeans unless they were the flannel-lined 'boxer' variety for visiting Grandma and Grandpa Hanson's farm.
... Then, in '57 my parents took me along to Europe and I think it was in France the children pointed their fingers at me and cried out, "Boy!, "Boy!" on account I was wearing long pants.
Haven't we come a long way!
