Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Thank a Mailman Day. It's is your chance to say thanks to the guy, or gal, who delivers your mail. After all, they are there six days a week. The reliable postal worker is always there doing their job, regardless of the weather. They are a hardy lot.
Rain or shine, mailmen and mailwomen never fail to deliver!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
Inscription, New York City Post Office, adapted from Herodotus
It’s true our mail men and women are the best and we need to thank them. I know that for them it must seem like a thankless job as day in and day out they deliver the mail no matter what the weather.
More often the mail I get is junk mail. It’s a shame that someone has to venture in the snow and cold to deliver it. About the only thing I can say is that it helps to give work to the garbage men.
I’m thankful that my mailman will also pick up any outgoing mail I happen to have too. We used to have a mailbox on the corner where we could go and post mail, but it was taken away some years ago now so I’ve come to rely on the mail man or gal as the case may be.
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and say THANK YOU as often as you can!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
True thanksgiving emphasizes the Giver rather than the gifts.
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. Sometimes it seems as if I’m repeating a lot of things that I’m thankful for, but no moment is really ever the same and every day is a new beginning. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2462. for the gift of faith and of trust in God
2463. for our mailmen and women
2464. for snow melt that works wonders on the ice.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The post office has a great charm at one point of our lives. When you have lived to my age, you will begin to think letters are never worth going through the rain for.
Jane Austen
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I spoke with my mail lady yesterday.she was a sub and said they couldn't deliver that first day, no streets were clear enough except for the fire routes. She is a little tiny girl and the snow is piled higher than she is tall. I got only one piece of legit mail.
When we first moved here, the people who lived here before didn't put in a change of address so the mail box was full of mail. We sorted out what needed to be returned and what was junk mail (catalogs, those types of things). I bet the mail person was glad to see the mail box empty and also to know that indeed the people had moved out without leaving a forwarding address. It is a thankless job sometimes to be a mail carrier, so its good there's a day to say thank you to them. We get our mail at a cental place with all the mail boxes for all the houses in the same area so I rarely even see the mail person. Where we used to live, they still came to the door where the mail box was, that we could say at least "hi" to when I saw them.
