Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Boy Scout Day and this special holiday celebrates the birthday of Scouting in America. On February 8, 1910, Chicago publisher William Dickson Boyce filed incorporation papers in the District of Columbia to create the Boy Scouts of America.
Scouting groups across the country celebrate this day. Often a cake will be served at the weekly meeting or on a campout. Scout Sunday, the Sunday nearest the 8th of February, will often be marked with a church service, followed by a pancake breakfast.
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts offer a tremendously valuable program of life skills and values for millions of boys. It has been popular ever since Lord Baden-Powell founded Boy Scouts in the early 1900s in Great Brittain. The top award of Eagle Scout, is an accomplishment that reaps recognition, rewards, and benefits for a young man throughout his life.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Following the Scout Law sounds like a game plan that would give us all a better chance for success in life—and I mean every area of life.
ZigZiglar
I think Scouting is a very valuable program and I spent a lot of time being a Scout Leader when my boys were young. I’m happy to say that some of my grandchildren have been or are presently involved in scouting too. The picture at the top is of my oldest son and and his son in their Scout uniforms.
A Scout is:
A Scout is TRUSTWORTHY.
A Scout is LOYAL
A Scout is HELPFUL.
A Scout is FRIENDLY
A Scout is COURTEOUS.
A Scout is KIND.
A Scout is OBEDIENT.
A Scout is CHEERFUL.
A Scout is THRIFTY.
A Scout is BRAVE
A Scout is CLEAN
A Scout is REVERENT.
What wonderful values to instill in young men.
After a warm up yesterday they say it could rain here today. Hopefully some of the snow melts before it comes again tomorrow. We won’t stay warmer long at all as we’ll be dipping back into the 20’s.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Loyalty is a feature in a boy’s character that inspires boundless hope.
Robert Baden-Powell
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. Sometimes it seems as if I’m repeating a lot of things that I’m thankful for, but no moment is really ever the same and every day is a new beginning. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2474. for scouting, a wonderful program
2475. for great values to live by
2476. for melting snow
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
If you make listening and observation your occupation you will gain much more than you can by talk.
Robert Baden-Powell
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

You are right, Ma, those are good values to instill into scouts and into any young person! Such a great organization scouting is!!
betty
Well, I was never a Boy Scout (LOL) ... but I wouldn't take for my Brownie & Girl Scout moments. It's a real shame the scouting program seems to have waned in popularity. I wonder why?
PS - My mom was a troop leader, as well!
