Today is Decorating with Candy Day. Sometimes all we need is permission to enjoy the little treats in life. On Decorating With Candy Day, people can create and enjoy their sweet creations without guilt. After all, it’s a recognised day where we are allowed to indulge and indulge we shall!
Why not smatter a layer of your favorite chocolate candies over a batch of freshly baked and iced cupcakes? Or crush up some peppermint candies and sprinkle them over some minty cheesecake, to add a delicious, fresh taste? Whatever you fancy, today is the day where you can buy a packet of those much loved candies, and get decorating away to create a special sweet treat that will be sure to make everyone proud to celebrate Decorating with Candy Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All I really need is love, but a little candy now and then doesn't hurt!
Charles Schulz
Colorful candies can function as great party decor year round, but they are especially appropriate for Valentine’s Day! A bag of conversation hearts can decorate cupcakes, cookies, and homemade valentines.
The weatherman says we’re to have some below zero temps here and when it gets that cold out I try to find excuses to turn the oven on. So maybe today will be a good day to bake something to decorate. I still have lots of candy canes left from Christmas and refuse to throw them out as I don’t think they ever get old. I like them in my hot chocolate and there are still plenty of hot chocolate days ahead.
Candy canes seem like such a good idea in early December. Every year, it’s the same routine: You buy a big box because they’re so cheap, and hang them from your tree branches. You sneak one or two before Christmas, but for the most part they go uneaten. Then, once the holiday has wrapped up it hits you. There are way more leftover candy canes than you’ll ever eat. So here is some ideas of what to do with all the spares.
You can crush them and sprinkle on top of vanilla or chocolate ice cream. You can also take big hunks of chocolate brownie, and layer it with lightly sweetened whipped cream and crushed candy canes. It’s served in a clear glass dish, layered like a trifle. If you’ve got a favorite slice and bake cookie recipe, make that as per usual. Then, once it has chilled, roll the cookie dough log in finely ground peppermint pieces to entirely coat the exterior. Portion into individual cookies and bake. Or make a basic chocolate bark using either milk, white, or dark chocolate, and top the bark with crunchy pieces of peppermint before it cools and sets.
I like the idea of brownies so I’m thinking that is what I’ll bake today.
Keep warm everyone !
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday! We are to have more snow today.
Remember that a Sunday well spent means a week of content!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Candy makes life so sweet!
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. Sometimes it seems as if I’m repeating a lot of things that I’m thankful for, but no moment is really ever the same and every day is a new beginning. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

These are all great suggestions for left-over candy canes. I'd go for one in some hot chocolate myself ... if we had any in the house. Must bookmark this for next year!
Just heard last night our temps may reach 80-degrees by Friday. Won't be long before I'm reluctant to turn on the oven!
Happy Sunday!! :)
I like the uses for the candy canes :) I also like that you were thinking of making brownies today; bet they came out delicious!
