Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Gummy, chewy, tasty sweets are the theme today. It’s National Gumdrop Day, which presents us with the opportunity to eat as many gumdrops as possible . Gumdrops have been a favorite candy for many decades. Nowadays, the Gummi candies which are the same gelatin base, are the most popular gumdrop type of sweet.
On National Gumdrop Day, you know what to do... eat Gumdrops to your heart's content!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Sugar, spice and everything nice...
Life is not all lollipops and gumdrops for sure. I’ve often sugar coated things to make them sound better than they are or in a way that makes it seem more pleasant or acceptable than it is. There is no sugar coating our weather though. It is nothing but cold, below freezing cold. BrrrChill!
Sugarcoating also can be confusing or even misleading if you don’t watch out. I’ve tried very hard this winter to find things to love about it, but at this point I no longer care. Yes, I’m thankful for every day, but cold and snow leave me with nothing to be desired.
Yes, I’m thankful for a warm and cozy home, but when the temperatures dip the heating bills go up. On the bright side, I can still pay them.
So as I’m supposed to be off shopping the President’s Day Sales today, I’ll be on the lookout for some tasty gumdrops, but I’m sure I won’t be enjoying the weather. I hope you all are staying warm and cozy.
A Sunday well spent means a week of content !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
When a small boy or girl hands you a flat gumdrop and you eat it, you have acquired that wonderful gift called tact

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. Sometimes it seems as if I’m repeating a lot of things that I’m thankful for, but no moment is really ever the same and every day is a new beginning. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2495. for layers of warm clothing to wear
2496. for wool socks and warm boots

I just had an idea! Wouldn't it be a lark to trade spaces for a week?
We're in the 80's this weekend - which sounds all well and good ... until one stops to think it will be 110-115 degrees in just a few months.
Sometimes it seems a lifetime ago I lived in 'real' Winter conditions, and might not be able tolerate it like I did in my younger days. Take good care of yourself while out shopping!
It does get tiring dealing with the cold day after day; even trying to stay warm can become a hassle with extra blankets, warm drinks, etc. Its good winter is such a "short" season though I know it feels like a long one living through it. I do hope you find lots of bargains and sales on your shopping expedition today :)

Oh my dear, I have thought so much of those suffering from this very cold winter. I have been very thankful for the mild winter that we have had in Georgia. There is a chance we might have snow/ice this week but everyone I know has fingers crossed that it will miss us!
One thing I can tell you...be thankful that your heating works properly. Even though our winter is mild, the temp in my home is usually around 53 degrees. So you see, you might be warmer than I am!
I love gumdrops, but it's hard to find the sunny feelings in this weather!
