ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is World Teachers Day which celebrates the role teachers play in providing quality education at all levels. Teachers deserve a little recognition, and some thanks and appreciation. Aside from parents and direct family, who else has as much influence on the hearts ann minds of a child? Teachers not only educate, but they help to shape and frame your child's beliefs, values, and behaviors.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.
William Arthur Ward
I’m giving a big THANK YOU to all the teachers in and among my family and friends today! They are very special people and do so much for children. Most go far and above what is required and are all very good at what they do.
Parents are the first and foremost teachers of children and what they learn in their early years makes a difference as they grow up. A good combination of parenting and teaching is needed so that as they grow they know the best way to live.
One thing I know, maybe two, is that you are never too old to learn something new and there is always more to learn.
Other than the school bus at the top, today’s pictures are of DS#5 and family having some fall fun.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Apple Betty Day
Apple Betty is similar to what is know as apple crisp, crumble or cobbler.
Apple Betty
3 whole Apples
7 slices Bread
3/4 cups Butter
1 1/2 cup Packed Brown Sugar
3 Tablespoons Water
Peel and thinly slice 3 apples. Slice bread into a small dice, or tear into very small pieces.
Coat a small baking dish or pie plate with butter. Then add 1/3 of the brown sugar, 1/3 of the apple slices, and 1/3 of the breadcrumbs. Repeat these layers twice more, ending with breadcrumbs.
Slice butter and lay slices all over the top of the breadcrumbs. Sprinkle dish with water and a little more brown sugar, and bake in a 375 degree oven, covered in foil, until done, about 45 minutes. Remove foil in last few minutes of baking to brown the top.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Looked like a lot of fun times for your son and his family! Teachers indeed are so vital in helping to raise a child. We need to pay them more and support them more.

Teachers can greatly influence the lives of those they teach. My sister, Deanie, did not have even one good teacher in the time she spent in school. At 7th grade, mother told her to just stay home. She made bad grades anyway. Can you imagine the insecurity my sister has lived with and had to overcome because no one - not even her mother - would take the time to truly teach her? I'm reminded of that because my grand Quad Kailey is much like my sister in that she is not a 'Polly Perfect' kind of student and praise God she has a gifted teacher who understands not all children learn the same way. Yes, teachers are so important! My Louis Dean was a teacher for 25 years and I educated my youngest two children at home. I'm a self educated person.....much like my sister. As a matter of fact.....none of the four of us siblings graduated. But we all educated ourselves in the end.
I'm early to visit here this morning. Today it's my turn to go to the dentist!
