ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Internet Day which celebrates the origin of the very first internet transmission ever sent. The Internet is everywhere these days, being accessed on phones and tablets, tied into our cameras and our TV’s. WiFi is accessible from everywhere these days, from city buses to your neighborhood McDonald’s, and the world grows smaller every day as a result.
Internet Day is a celebration of this culmination of computing and communication technology, and they way it has brought all our lives together.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The advent of electronic mail is fostering a revival of the familiar letter.

I am thankful for the internet as it keeps me in touch with family and friends. It’s a part of my daily life and would feel lost without it for sure.
Thanks to the internet I can even stream TV programs and as I no longer have cable available here, I do depend on it for anything I watch. I even depend on it for the news and the weather.
It’s to be another wet and cold start to the day here, but I’ll be headed out to church as usual later this morning. I’m thinking I’ll be needing a coat which is something that hasn’t been out of the closet in a long time. I’ve got a couple of rain jackets and either one should do the trick. When layered over a sweater, they will keep me warm enough for now.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Oatmeal Day! Oatmeal is an extremely healthy, versatile food that can be eaten any time of day. It is both filling and low in calories, which makes it the perfect breakfast or snack. Oatmeal is also delicious baked in cookies.
I tend to eat more oatmeal for breakfast when the weather turns cold and always have a box in the pantry. Not only is it good for breakfast and in cookies but it’s also used in several recipes I have.
One of my favorites is Meatloaf and I’ve probably shared this before, but for those who haven’t tried it, here it is again. I found the recipe on a box of oatmeal many years ago and that’s the way I’ve made it ever since.
Quaker Oats Prize Winning Meatloaf
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef or turkey
3/4 cup Oats
3/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup catsup
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients in large bowl; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape meatloaf mixture into 10 by 6 inch loaf. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until meatloaf is not pink in center and juices show no pink color. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
Makes 6 to 8 servings

Oatmeal is a great meal on a cold day. Helps warm up the tummy. I sure do appreciate the Internet. It has helped me work from hone for over 11 years now.

I truly can't fathom what my life was like before the internet! ... and Facebook, which has helped me reconnect with family and friends from almost 50 years ago! My father used to spend countless hours at the public library, reading travel magazines and newspapers from far-away places. How I wish he might have experienced the world wide web!
I love oatmeal too! Stay warm! xx
