ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is TV Talk Show Host Day which celebrates and honors all TV Talk Show hosts.
This very special day is celebrated on the birth date of legendary night time talk show host Johnny Carson. Carson is considered the King of late night Television. He hosted The Tonight Show from 1962 to 1992. His reign lasted a record 29 years, 7 months, 21 days. There were 1,859 episodes.
While this day is celebrated on Johnny Carson's birth date, it is intended to show appreciation to all Television talk show hosts, daytime and nighttime.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Television has proved that people will look at anything rather than each other.
Ann Landers
I do remember Johnny Carson and his late night TV show, but these days I rarely watch anything but Netflix on my TV. Talk shows can be interesting, but I’ve never seen one that rivaled the Tonight Show.
What we see on TV these days is quite different from what we had years ago and more and more there is little there to entertain me so I wind up reading books more than not.
We had a beautiful weekend and I think everyone enjoyed the weather, but that is about to change and
a big cool down is coming our way. It’ll be sweater weather for the foreseeable future here.
They are supposed to come and make sure my home is ready for winter on Friday of this week and I’m thinking it’s none too soon. One nice thing about renting is that they take care of that and I don’t have to call someone to check out the furnace. They take care of it all. This will be my first winter here so we’ll see just how it all goes. Having spent the Spring, Summer and Fall in my new home I’m quite content so far.
Our warm days have come to an end for now so remember your sweaters and umbrellas too as there will be some rain to start off the week.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Boston Cream Pie Day! A French chef named Sanzian invented Boston cream pie in 1856. He worked at the Parker House Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, which is also where the Parker House roll originated.
In 1996, Boston cream pie became the official dessert of Massachusetts in a bill sponsored by Norton High School. This bill defeated both Indian Pudding and Toll House cookies as the state's official dessert. Boston cream pie is now also a popular doughnut, coffee, and ice cream flavor.
Although it is called a pie, Boston cream pie is actually a cake. It consists of two round layers of sponge cake with a thick vanilla custard filling. It is usually frosted with a chocolate glaze but it can also be topped with confectionary sugar. The dessert is served in wedges just like a pie.
Boston Cream Pie
1 pkg. vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 cup plus 2 Tbsp. cold milk, divided
1 1/2 cups thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping
1 round yellow cake layer
1 oz. Unsweetened Chocolate
1 Tbsp. butter
3/4 cup powdered sugar
Beat pudding mix and 1 cup milk in medium bowl with whisk 2 min. Stir in Cool Whip. Let stand 5 min. Meanwhile, cut cake horizontally into 2 layers with serrated knife.
Stack cake layers on plate, spreading pudding mixture between layers.
Microwave chocolate and butter in medium microwaveable bowl for 1 min. or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended. Add sugar and remaining milk; mix well. Spread over cake. Refrigerate 1 hour.
Makes 10 servings depending on the size you serve.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5371. for books, I love to read
5372. for TV when it’s good entertainment
5373. for pie and cakes, always good
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The great thing about television is that if something important happens anywhere in the world, day or night, you can always change the channel.

That is what I liked about renting too, there was a problem you called the property management people. Glad they will make sure your are ready for winter. Sometimes I will catch a TV talk show. You are right, none of them quite live up to Johnny Carson.

I haven’t thought about Boston Creme Pie in a very long time! I used to love them!
Yesterday was our first day without AC! I would love a little winter weather r even cool fall weather. 82 is our high today.
I love a good slice of Boston Cream Pie! I used to really like the talk shows. But anymore they aren't as good. I never watched Johnny Carson, can you believe that. Yes, renting would be nice when it comes to needing things done.
Embarrassed to admit, I didn't know Boston Crème Pie wasn't pie at all!
Sure miss Johnny Carson!
