Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Falling Needles Family Fest Day is observed annually 30th. This day is a reminder for those who enjoyed a live Christmas tree over the holidays to clean it up and recycle it. On this day, the ornaments return to the boxes, the garland and lights are carefully wound, and the tinsel is gathered to put into storage for another year. Evidently, there is to be dancing around the tree until the last needle drops, or at least until a significant number fall.
Happy Falling Needles Family Fest Day !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The smell of pine needles, spruce and the smell of a Christmas tree - those to me, are the scents of the holidays.
Blake Lively
When we were at DS#5’s for our family Christmas celebration I couldn't help but notice the falling needles from their tree. They had a little train running around a track under the tree and one of the train cars was collecting pine needles.
There is a lot of joy in having a live tree but there is also a lot of cleaning up that needs to be done when they come down too. I can remember placing a tree bag under the tree to pull up and around it when we went to take it outdoors. Wrapping it up did help prevent a lot of falling needles on the floor. I tried to put pictures of several of my families trees in this post today. Some were live ones.
Many wait until after New Years Day to take out the tree. Here at my house I usually wait till January 6th, which is Epiphany, The Three Kings Day. My little table top trees simply get placed in a bin to be used again another year.
It's quite amazing that even artificial Christmas trees have falling needles.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3451. for Christmas trees, live ones should be recycled
3452. for a day to clean up, my house needs it
3453. for scent of pine it is clean and refreshing

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Beware the pine tree's withered branch!
Beware the awful avalanche!

Such cute trees! When we had live ones and would take them down and then vacuum the area, it was still a bit of Christmas with the pine smell from the needles :) I saw where the various recycle companies here would be making their pick ups of trees for recycling purposes. One place even gave you a $10 credit at their store if you brought the tree into their place to recycle; it was a nursery, so maybe they use the trees for mulching?

Love the Wadsworth quote and the pictures! Our Nativity Scene stays up until Epiphany... but the trees come down on Friday, I think. Slowly, Christmas is vacating... it was wonderful, though.
I remember eagerly vacuuming and vacuuming and picking the needles out of the carpet, to help my mother. We always had a loblolly pine, cut from the Mississippi woods.
Love all your pictures and the trees are so pretty. I put up a small 4 foot tree this year I just don't have much room for a larger one when the children and grandchildren comes. I rather have them then a larger tree, ha. We enjoyed them if it did rain most of the time and it's raining again today. Take care. Jean
