Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Festivus Day. Festivus came into being as the direct result of a Jerry Seinfeld television show episode. It first aired on December 18, 1997. The holiday was promoted by Kramer.
The Festivus holiday was created by Seinfeld show scriptwriter Daniel O'Keefe. His dad, also named Daniel, had found reference to an obscure holiday called Festivus, which was first celebrated in 1966.
No, there isn't a Festivus Tree. Rather, an unadorned aluminum pole is the symbol of Festivus.
The Festivus holiday is celebrated with a dinner. Meatloaf is the suggested main course.Dinner is followed by a 'Feats of Strength'.
Another popular Festivus tradition, is an 'Airing of Grievances' . This is where you can tell someone how disappointed you are over what they did or didn't do during the past year.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life is a festival only to the wise.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Life is a beautiful festival and there is always something to celebrate! The pictures today are of DS#4 and his family having a good time this past weekend.
A meatloaf dinner sounds like a good thing about now. Good comfort food before all the holiday excitement begins. If you do not have time to bake a meatloaf, this is a quick solution for a quick fix dinner.
Meatloaf patties
1 1/2 lbs of ground beef
1 egg
1/3 cup oatmeal
1/3 cup bread crumbs
1/3 cup ketchup
1/2 Tablespoon BBQ seasoning
3 Tablespoons diced onions
Salt and pepper dash of each
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl till well blended. Divide into 8 equal parts, form patties. Add a splash of oil to a frying pan and cook over Medium High heat till cooked, normally 5 minutes on each side for a total cooking time of 10 min. Eat on a bun, or with gravy or just eat alone and dip it in Ketchup.
We’ve been having a lot of rain here lately and some very dark days. For the most part I’ve been slacking and lacking. The good thing is that no matter what, whether I’m ready or not, Christmas will come.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Christmas is the gentlest, loveliest festival of the revolving year — and yet, for all that, when it speaks, its voice has strong authority.
W.J. Cameron
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3430. for meatloaf, one of life’s simple pleasures
3431. for well stocked cupboards, now all I need to do is cook something
3432. for a good cup of Cinnamon Dolce coffee this morning
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The truth is that existence wants your life to become a festival...because when you are unhappy, you also throw unhappiness all around.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

What a cute place your son and his family went to, to enjoy the holiday cheer :) Great pictures of them! I like the recipe for those meatloaf patties; definitely going to make them in the new year :) I think it is just that time of year to slack a bit; with it being cold and dark and dreary, sometimes it is good just to cuddle up with a good book :)
betty
I love the quotes that you have on here today! (Of course, I love all the quotes you have every day!!)
Those meatloaf patties sound good!
Merry Christmas to you and your dear family!!
