Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Ding a Ling Day, a very special day to 'Ring your Bell'. Nope, we're not talking about the Salvation Army Bell Ringers, standing with their bells and kettles, outside of every store in the country. On National Ding a Ling Day, you should brace yourself for bizarre and crazy behavior, from all of the people you encounter today. Even normally conservative people have been known to go a little crazy on this day. It’s a holiday that celebrates the ding a lings and ding dongs in all of us. A ding a ling is defined as a person who is scatterbrained or eccentric. Does that ring a bell with anyone?
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Carol singing, church bells ringing,
Once more Christmastime is here.
Children laughing, grownups beaming,
Hearts are warm with Christmas cheer.
Ruby Lee Mitchell
There are times I feel like a ding a ling. I find my self saying, ding dong is anyone home in there. Doing something crazy happens to the best of us and we often wonder just where our brain has gone.
The first picture in my post today is of two of my grandsons ringing the bells for the Salvation Army one year. I’m proud of them and the time they shared doing something good for others. The last two pictures are of two other little grandsons going a little crazy with reindeer ears. Sometimes a little craziness is a good thing !
This time of year I much prefer thinking about Christmas bells and one of my favorite ornaments the little angel bell shown pictured above, that says, Each man’s life touches many others.
They are saying we will have near record temps this weekend. We’ll be mid 60’s and that is wonderful for this time of year. By the end of next week we’ll be back to more normal temps with high 30’s and low 40’s. I’m just thankful for this warmer weather while we have it. It’s usually a long cold winter here in northern Ohio.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
and wild and sweet
The word repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3394. for bell ringers this time of year
3395. for all the crazy moments in my life, even they had a bright side
3396. for lovely fall weather, it’s not winter just yet
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
12 Days Until Christmas
Advent tip for today:
Drive to a store that has a Salvation Army bell ringer just to donate without going into the store to buy anything!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in.
Leonard Cohen
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

How cute with the little ones with their reindeer ears :) I do remember when you said your other grandsons had volunteered to ring the bells; that was a great effort for them to help others :) I tell you, doing the driving we did today, there were lots of ding alings on the road; hoping it was just the season and not the trend here. Glad to hear that the weather has been pleasant at times, gives you a little break from the brutal winters of years past.
betty
I love the sounds of bells, from wee ones like your precious ornament to the huge ones in the campanile on the campus. Ding Dong Merrily on High!
