Today is Bill of Rights Day. To Americans, the Bill of Rights are key amendments to the U.S. Constitution, that protect our individual rights.
On September 25, 1789, the First Congress of the United States proposed to the state legislatures 12 amendments to the Constitution. 10 of these amendments were added to the Constitution on December 15, 1791.
The Bill of Rights includes these Amendments:
Amendment 1- Freedom of speech, press and religion
Amendment 2 - The right to bear arms
Amendment 3- Protection of homeowners from quartering troops, except during war.
Amendment 4 - Rights and protections against unreasonable search and seizure
Amendment 5 - Rights of due process of law, protection against double jeopardy, self incrimination
Amendment 6 - Rights of a speedy trial by jury of peers and rights of accused
Amendment 7 - Rights to trial by jury in civil cases
Amendment 8 - Protection from cruel and unusual punishment, excessive bail
Amendment 9 - Protection of rights not specified in the Bill of Rights
Amendment 10 - States rights, power of the states
On Bill of Rights Day, celebrate your American Citizenship, and spend a few minutes reflecting upon the freedoms that you enjoy. These freedoms do not exist in many countries of the world.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable; that all men are created equal and independant, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent and inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, and liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Thomas Jefferson
I do celebrate the fact that I’m an American and am very thankful to have the freedoms we enjoy that many do not. I often think that the creators of our constitution were very wise men indeed.
I’m try to get the many things on my to do list this week and still take some time out for reflection. In these busy days we need to make time to think about just why we are so very busy this time of year. Getting things ready inside and out to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year isn’t always easy, but I try to make it fun. Each day new surprises come my way and even though they aren’t all good, there is some good to be found in every day.
The pictures today are a mix of some of the things my family has been up to lately. Even though many are far away they keep in touch to let me know what’s going on.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.
Thomas Paine
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3406. for the rights we have in the United States that others don't
3407. for busy but good days
3408. for batteries, something we take for granted, but they keep my Christmas lights glowing
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
9 Days Until Christmas
Advent tip for today:
Hop in the car in your jammies and drive around to look at the Christmas lights.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Nathaniel Branden

That was a tall Christmas tree parts of your family were by! I can't imagine trying to decorate the top branches :) Looks like all are enjoying the season!

Six days until winter! I love the reindeer pictures!
I had no idea reindeer were so small, despite having watched "Rudolph" quite a few times!
