Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Re-gifting Day. Did you know that the third Thursday of December is the most common date for work parties and celebrations?
Given that the gifts exchanged at these parties are generally rubbish, in an attempt to be environmentally friendly and make life a little easier, Regifting Day encourages you to save your unwanted presents and pass them off to your coworkers next year. Clever, eh?
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The manner of giving is worth more than the gift.
Pierre Corneille
Our family is doing a little re-gifting this year. Everyone is to wrap and bring some white elephants from their home. White elephants can be a lot of different things. Toys no longer used, cookbooks never opened, games never played. The list could go on and on. We’re going to play a game by placing all the wrapped white elephant gifts in a pile on the floor and then by rolling dice hopefully win some re-gifted gifts. One roll of the dice might mean you take a gift. If you roll a two you have to put the gift back. If you roll a 3 you pass any gift you might have to the person next to you and so on.
I’m thinking it will be lots of fun to see what everyone brings. I have a few things that are old and few things that are new to take along for the game. The nice thing is that the whole family can play. Young and old alike can roll the dice and take a package.
We played this game for the first time ever last year and I took all the gifts which were mostly purchased from the dollar store. Everyone loved it so we took it up a notch this year with everyone bringing a white elephant instead.
Here at my house a lot of wrapping is going on right now. I have gifts to give and some to put in the mail and many that will be hand delivered too. It’s late. It’s late. The time has gotten away from me and I’m running late for an important date …with Christmas this year.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A ray of sunshine, a balmy breeze
Are a gift from God above,
And He also gives us faithful friends.
To warm our hearts with love.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3412. for gifts to wrap and give away
3413. for another day to get things done
3414. for a Christmas concert to go to today, courtesy of our little X factor
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
7 Days Until Christmas
Advent tip for today: Paint pinecones to make a centerpiece for the table or to display in a clear vase or string on a bunting.
Pinecones are symbolic of Christmas. The Pine cone and the tree from which it comes is thought to be a tree of Knowing because the cones could predict the weather by opening up to the rays of the sun on a bright day and closing just before rainfall comes.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Every gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness…

Such cute pictures with the grandchildren seeing Santa :) I like that game, Ma; sounds like a fun one :) Too funny, tonight is hubby's work's Christmas gathering for managers; we won't be going since he has a music practice for church for Sunday's service and Christmas Eve service, but it is the 3rd Thursday of December :)
I have re-gifted a few times but they were things I knew someone might like and I never re-gifted where it would get back to the person who originally gave me the gift that I had re-gifted it. I think sometimes its a good way to re-gift and then potentially avoid clutter down the line :)

We had our holiday potluck at work today! So I think that statistic you mentioned is exactly right!
I like your White Elephant game. Fun as well as useful for getting gifts into the right hands.
