Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Goof Off Day. Now here's a day that just about everybody can relax and enjoy. It's a day to do anything and everything.....except what you're supposed to do today.
It’s Sunday, so assuming you won't get in trouble at work or school, go ahead and play some golf, or play games all day. Spend extra time surfing the net. Go out and spend the day window shopping with your favorite friend. Or, just read sit down and read a book or watch TV. This day is set aside for you to do anything you enjoy doing.
A few years ago, a survey was performed to identify the most popular activity for goofing off. The top activity was playing video games. Nowadays, the most popular Goof Off Day activity is likely playing games on the internet, or on our Smart Phones.
Whatever you choose to do, enjoy your day to it’s fullest!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
What day is it?
It's today, squeaked Piglet.
My favorite day, said Pooh.
A.A. Milne
These days you’ll find me goofing off more than I ever did before. And I can truthfully say, I do enjoy every day to it’s fullest!
I don’t play video games or games on my phone either, but I do a lot of other things that make the most of my time. I love to read and paint. I like to sew, but haven’t done much of it lately. I like to blog and spend some time doing that every day. I also like cook, especially when I have someone to share it with.
There are so many things I love to do and so many people to spend time with, that there is never a dull day at my house. I may be goofing off more, but also taking more time to enjoy the moments.
Taking a break from work is something we all should do every day. Just 15 minutes can make such a difference when your under stress or tired out from the day to day struggles of life.
Sundays are the day I usually put something in the oven or the crock pot for dinner and for leftovers to enjoy the rest of the week. I found a special buy on a frozen turkey breast this week, so that is what I’m cooking up today. It’s great to pop in the oven on a Sunday afternoon to have for sandwiches throughout the week for lunch. A simple sprinkle of seasonings that you probably already have in your cupboard, and into the oven it goes. Since I’m trying out a new recipe each week this year, I found this one to try out.
1 boneless turkey breast 2 to 3 pounds
1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon minced dry onion
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon parsley flakes
½ teaspoon basil
Thaw turkey breast completely in the fridge
Preheat oven to 350 and set out roasting pan or heavy deep oven proof dish
Combine all seasonings in a small bowl and mix well
Coat turkey with olive oil and rub in the spice mixture
Place in baking pan
Cook at 350 degrees for 90 minutes until internal temperature is 165-170 degrees
Remove from oven and cover with foil, allow to rest 20 to 30 minutes before slicing
My turkey breast is almost 7 pounds so I will be more than doubling that baking time for sure and I’ll have lots of leftovers to enjoy and will probably be freezing some of it too.
I hope your all have a relaxing and restful Sunday and can spend some time just goofing off!

That turkey breast recipe looks good, Ma! We would make turkey breasts when the kids were home; I did like the leftovers for sandwiches and other meals. I do like the convenience of a crock pot for cooking too! How fun with a Goof Off day; we are going to church then out exploring more of the area here, so I guess we'll be goofing off :)

I'm not especially fond of video games, either; probably on account I've an addictive personality and time's already a premium.
We made a turkey breast a few weeks back in the crockpot - with orange juice, whole berry cranberry sauce and a packet of onion soup mix. Sounds like a strange combination, doesn't it? But the results were amazing!
My husband and I are always amazed at how people are always staring at their phones instead of talking with each other. What on earth is so important?
A goof off day sounds pretty good to me.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
