March 15th, The Ides of March, is the first day of the Roman New Year. It also marks the first day of spring in the Roman calendar. On this day in history, Julius Caesar was warned by soothsayers to beware of the Ides of March. Apparently, he did not heed the warning strongly enough as he was stabbed by Marcus Brutus on the Ides of March in 44 BC. The ancient Romans considered the ides of any month as unfavorable

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Beware of the ides of March.
William Shakespear
I always consider the 15th of March to be the time of year that my body finally comes out of it’s winter hibernation. Maybe it’s due to the longer hours of daylight we’ve been having, but it’s usually on this day each year that I finally begin to feel more energy and enthusiasm. I’m very tired of this hibernation mode I’ve been in. All I’ve wanted to do is sleep and now it’s time to wake up !
March 15th is also Buzzard Day, a date which is circled on the calendars of many dedicated Ohio residents who, once a year, eagerly scan the skies with binoculars watching for their return. For them this graceful, winged creature with its bald head and red beak signals rebirth and is a harbinger of Spring.
The mid March buzzard celebration is led by an Official Buzzard Spotter on the Hinckley Reservation in the Cleveland Metroparks. A large number of enthusiasts will converge on Buzzard Roost at around 6:30am this morning in anticipation of the bird’s return.
Another sign of Spring here is the increasing size of the buds on my Star Magnolia Bush which is shown in the pictures today. It’s nice to think that it won’t be long now and we’ll seeing it’s beautiful blooms.
Well it is Sunday, my day to renew and refresh as I’ll be heading out to church a little later on this morning. That one hour spent in church does do a lot to boost my spirit for sure.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Beware what you set your heart upon. For it shall surely be yours.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Such pretty blossoms, Ma! So neat to hear too that you are getting out of your hibernation mode and enjoying more energy and I'm sure more pleasant weather! Saw where we used to live was 96 degrees yesterday! Here it was a pleasant 71 degrees with about the same forecast for today.
betty
Buzzard Day? ... what a concept! I always associated the buzzards with death and doom - so it's nice to know they've a 'good' side. LOL!
Well, hey there, it has been a long time. Thanks for your kind visit to Bella Vista. Time to give it a whirl again.
It is warm here today....in the 80's. I think summer is upon us.
Blessings!
