THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Food for thought is no substitute for the real thing.
Walt Kelly
Most of the time when I have a hamburger it is made out of beef, so I wondered why then is it called a ham burger? What I found was that a meat patty sandwich probably had its origins in Hamburg, Germany and that is why they are known as hamburgers.
I found this recipe for the best burger ever and am passing it along today. I haven't tried it yet, but intend to do so soon.
2 lbs ground beef
sesame seed buns
1/2 cup of grated Monterrey jack cheese
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
season salt to taste
cracked black pepper
onion powder
Combine the ground beef, grated cheese, bbq sauce, and seasonings. Shape patties that are about 1 inch thick. Then it is very important to push a ½ inch indent into the center of the patty, this is what prevents the patty from becoming a dome. These burgers stay extra moist because the bbq sauce and cheese are mixed in with the meat.
Wait for the skillet to get super hot and then apply a very thin layer of butter to the pan. Place the patties on the pan, indent side up. Reduce heat to medium and allow each side of the patty to cook for about 4-6 minutes, but make sure it doesn’t burn. Wait to flip the burger until one side is very thoroughly cooked, so that it holds together better before flipping. While the burger is cooking, whip up this great sauce
3/4 cup of mayo
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup relish
2 tablespoons worcestershire
seasoned salt
Combine all ingredients and whisk until well mixed. Taste and adjust ingredients to your liking.
Hope they taste as good as they sound.
For many years, burgers were always on the menu for the weekends. Grilled outdoors or in, it didn't matter. I'll be keeping up with that tradition today. I couldn't find a single picture of a burger in my photos so the Maxine cartoons will have to suffice today.
Hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Wimpy says, I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today!
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.

I had to laugh at the Maxine jokes... so funny... I can't eat hamburgers any more (or cheeseburgers, which I loved) I'm not able to swallow them. I miss them sometimes!
I love that Maxine, don't you? So funny!
That sounds like a good recipe, I think I'll try it!
I always liked the sesame seed buns too. When I was a kid, I used to pick the seeds off and eat them first. I was such a strange little child! :-)
