63 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:15 am
Sunset: 8:54 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Whew! Is it hot enough for ya today? The mercury skyrockets in mid to late July. The proverbial Dog Days of Summer are underway. July 23rd offers everyone license to express the tired, but apt, question: Is it hot enough for ya today?
Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it.
Russell Baker
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Every survival kit should include a sense of humor.

Yes, it has been hot enough for me! Although it is cooler this week with temps in the 80's it is still hot enough for me. I hope we don't get anymore of those super hot days with heat advisories again this summer. I think we can all agree on that one.
Every year the extreme temperatures affect me more and more. I don't like the icy cold of winter or the heat waves in the summer.
Extremes in life are pretty hard for any of us to take. Dealing with extreme change, whether it's life threatening weather, redundancy, relationship breakdown, bankruptcy, illness or bereavement is a matter of survival.
I've found that humor is a mental weapon which enables us to retain perspective when we are sorely challenged. Aside from the health benefits of laughter, which are numerous and significant, having a sense of humor about life’s difficulties can provide a way to bond with others, look at things in a different way, normalize your experience, and keep things from appearing too overwhelming or scary.
The hot weather makes me realize just how much I take for granted in life. Cool air conditioning, cold water anytime I want it, a house where the temperature is comfortable day and night. I'm thankful for them all.
I know it's hot enough for me - stay cool everyone and have a terrific Tuesday!
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Turn your Hot Dogs of summer in to top dogs!
Slaw Dog
4 bun length all-beef hot dogs
4 warm rolls
2 C. coleslaw
1/4 tsp. black pepper
barbeque sauce
In a medium skillet, heat hot dogs over medium heat, turning occasionally, about 8 minutes. Turn off heat, open rolls and place them on top of hot dogs and cover (2 minutes). Top each hot dog with a generous helping of coleslaw, a dash of pepper and a wavy line of barbeque sauce. Serves 2
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Like a welcome summer rain, humor may suddenly cleanse and cool the earth, the air and you.
Langston Hughes
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
787. rain after a hot week
788. cooler days
789. a smile or two
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine.
Lord Byron
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I like your "slaw dogs" except around here we use bratwurst instead of hot dogs. Temps finally dropped a little so it's a little more comfortable. Blessings
Oh, it is hot enough here in Louisiana - in the upper 90's this week, so I am especially thankful for a cool house! Love your flower pics and the reminder that I need to keep a good sense of humor :)
