ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

83 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 5:59
Sunset: 9:06
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
If you have a garden, then July 1st is a day worth crowing about. It's Build a Scarecrow Day.
Pick a tattered old flannel shirt and a worn-out pair of jeans, and make your own crow stopper. Use two poles or sticks for form the cross frame, and set your scarecrow to work in your garden. Watch those crows disappear.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
My scarecrows are packed away with the fall decorations here. I don't usually get them out till September and then leave them out to decorate the porch and patio through Thanksgiving time. But for folks that have a garden, scarecrows are a necessity.
I did put one out one year to try and scare away some pesky black birds that we had here, but to no avail. My scarecrow is too cute and doesn't scare anyone, let alone the blackbirds. One article I read said that a basic scarecrow, placed in your garden and left alone, is likely only to be effective for a few days. So in order for your scarecrow to work, it needs to be ever changing. The birds will be suspicious of a garden where it seems like someone is always working! You have to move it around.
The poppies and the hydrangeas have started blooming here and my Easter lily that was a gift a few years ago has been blooming for a while now. The Black Eyed Susan's are full of buds so they'll be blooming soon too. It's is looking like full summer here.
Hope your Monday is off to a great start!
The beauty of the hydrangea comes not only from its large globe shape and tightly packed petals, but also from its every changing shade. Hydrangeas change colors depending on the acidity of the soil they grow in, varying from stark whites to pinks, purples, and blues. Japanese legend suggests that this flower represents heartfelt emotions on all parts of the spectrum. It is also typically given to celebrate 4th wedding anniversaries .
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
721. for my flower garden
722. for cute and funny looking scarecrows that make me smile
723. for summertime
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Easter Lilies naturally bloom in June/July, so don't look for flowers next Easter if you planted them in your garden this year.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I gave up on my garden this year. Nothing seems to grow very well around here anymore, including my flowers. I do love scarecrows though. Blessings
My Easter Lillies are blooming now, too!
We have some little birds that come in on our carport to roost at night, and most every day I have to wash it off. I have been thinking about getting a scare crow to see if it would keep them out. I had a witch on a stick that had a motion detector in it. I was going to hang it out at night, but when I tried it I couldn't get it to work. Lol. Take care, Jean.
