ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
NOVEMBER 10TH, 2011
It's THURSDAY!
FORGET ME NOT DAY
Forget-Me-Not Day is a day to remember family, friends, and loved ones.
People use this day to get in touch with family, friends and loved ones, especially those who we haven't seen in a while. You don't want them to forget you, do you!? This day is intended to remember the living. But, some people have used it to memorialize a loved one who is no longer with us.
Flower of the Day: Why, it's Forget-Me-Nots....of course!!
When you're happy, I'm happy. When you're sad, I'm sad. When you're lonely, call me!

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Vanilla Cupcake Day
If you like the taste of Twinkies, try making your own vanilla cupcakes at home.
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/3 cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
Preheat oven to 350F. Line cupcake pans with paper liners.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add shortening, milk, and vanilla. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape side of bowl with a spatula.
Add eggs to the mixture. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape bowl again. Beat on high speed for 1 minute 30 seconds until well mixed.
Spoon cupcake batter into paper liners until 1/2 to 2/3 full.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool 5 minutes in pans then remove and place on wire racks to cool completely.
Once cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with your favorite frosting recipe or decorate as you desire
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Today is Marine Corps Day, marking the creation of the Corps as part of the U.S. Navy on November 10, 1775.
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would I'd never leave.
A.A. Milne
With my family so spread out all over and only a few close to home, there are many days that I realize just how little I really know about what they do or how they are feeling. I love their phone calls and their pictures, but most of all I love being with them.
One thing they cannot do is forget me...I post this newsletter every day and whether or not they read it, I'm sure they'll see it in their in box and know that I'm thinking about them. The same applies to many of my extended family and my friends.
Remember if you find that this clutters up your mailbox and you wish it didn't, you can always just reply to this email and let me know to stop. Otherwise you'll know that I'll never forget you and as long as I am able anyway, this newsletter will be sent each day.
Today I'm thankful for my computer and the internet, because of it I'll forget you not.
The news from home is a little on the sad side today. I said good bye the 'dirty bird' yesterday. Well I think she lived a good long life anyway. She was over 30 years old and seemed like a permanent fixture here at my house. Somehow I believe that birds really do fly over the rainbow.
COUNTING THE DAYS
Someone remembers, someone cares;
Your name is whispered in someone’s prayers.
