ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 19TH, 2010
It's TUESDAY…
It is a special day today as one of my Aunt’s is celebrating her 90th birthday today. So I’m sending lots of birthday wishes her way!
It’s also the birthday of one of my nieces and I hope she has a special day too!
May the dear Lord bless you both today and always!
January does have many reasons for us to be celebrating for sure.
THINKING
This is the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
All this week, as representatives from the different churches meet to pray together, let’s ask the Lord to soften our hearts and to help open us up to this new way that the Holy Spirit is moving.
Lord, may we all be one!
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Potato Corn Chowder
4 slices Bacon, chopped
1 can (14 oz.) fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth
1-1/4 lb. baking potatoes (about 3), peeled, cubed
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen corn, thawed, drained
2 stalks celery, sliced
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup MIRACLE WHIP Dressing
2 Tbsp. flour
2 cups milk
COOK bacon in large saucepan until crisp. Remove bacon from pan; drain on paper towels. Discard drippings from pan.
ADD broth and vegetables to saucepan. Bring to boil; simmer on low heat 15 min. or until potatoes are tender.
MIX dressing and flour in medium bowl. Stir in milk. Add to potato mixture; cook 3 to 5 min. or until heated through, stirring constantly
PRAYERS
God of hope, share Your vision of the one church with us, and overcome our doubts. Increase our faith in your presence, that all who profess belief in you may worship together in spirit and in truth. We especially pray for all who are in doubt right now, or whose lives are spent in the shadow of danger and fear. Be with them and give them your consoling presence
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AROUND HOME
On the news last night were more warnings about not giving any personal information to anyone on line. It seems e-mails are going out fraudulently claiming they are your bank. Please remember never give out any personal info.
FAMILY
Friendships come and go, but families are forever
Kenny Rogers
COUNTING THE DAYS
May the blessed sunlight shine upon you and warm your heart till it glows like a great fire and strangers may warm themselves as well as friends. And may the light shine out of the eyes of you, like a candle set in the window of a house, bidding the wanderer to come in out of the storm
Traditional Irish Blessing
59 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !
87 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
72 DAYS UNTIL MA RETIRES
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
