ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 29th, 2010
It's FINALLY FRIDAY!
AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR STAR TODAY!
May the dear Lord bless you today and always!
It’ll be a very cold day today. They say our temps are going to reach a high of 16 degrees. BrrrChill!!!
I’m really layering up today. It’s the only way I can stay warm when it gets this cold.
THINKING
Jesus surprisingly compares the biggest and greatest kingdom of all to the smallest seed of all — the mustard seed. Jesus' point is that the greatest things begin with the smallest things. Even a small mustard seed can become a great plant. The Kingdom of God is like that. It is the place where miraculous things happen without our knowledge or intervention because God makes it happen
What comparison shall we use for the reign of God? What image will help to present it? It is like mustard seed

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Super Bowl XLIV, featuring the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints, will be played in Miami, Florida on February 7, 2010. On that day, Super Bowl Sunday, Americans will hold more parties in their homes than on any other day of the year, Make your own super size party subs!
2 long loaves crusty French Bread (about 20" to 22" long, each)
sweet pepper and onion relish
Italian dressing
12 oz. thinly sliced tavern ham
12 oz. thinly sliced hard salami
8 oz. thinly sliced pepperoni
12 oz. thinly sliced provolone cheese
1 small jar olives
sandwich picks
About 1-1/2 hours before serving .... Slice the bread loaves lengthwise. Lightly brush the cut side of both the tops and the bottoms of the loaves with Italian dressing. Place slices of tavern ham, hard salami, and pepperoni on the bottom halves. Spread a generous layer of sweet pepper and onion relish over meats. Add slices of provolone. Cover with the top halves of bread. Tightly wrap each loaf in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour. Cut the sandwiches diagonally into slices about 3" wide. For each sandwich slice, place an olive on a sandwich pick. Insert the picks with the olives into the cut sandwiches and arrange on a serving tray.
Over the years my family has taken a liking to what we fondly call the Moving Sub. I fixed it whenever I went to help someone move for many years. It was very similar to the Super Sub except that I like to use Creamy Italian Dressing, I don’t use the pickle relish and often add a layer of turkey lunch meat and onions, lettuce and tomato.
I’ll be having a few more Super Bowl recipes coming in the days ahead.
PRAYERS
God and Father of all people, never let me look down on others or make anyone feel inferior. Inspire me to live in such a way that I may discover you in the people I will meet today
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AROUND HOME
A tip for those annoying telemarketers:
Politely tell them to Put me on your DO NOT CALL list
The article I read said that these words do more than DON’T CALL AGAIN.
As I answer the phone at work, I am well acquainted with telemarketers. They attack businesses even more that residential phones.
Some are pleasant and some are so rude they are scary. At home if I don’t recognize the number on my caller ID, I don’t answer the phone. If it is important someone will leave a message.

There is a story of a little boy who was listening in on a conversation between his mother and grandmother. The young mother said to the boy's grandmother, "You're not old, Mom, you're only sixty-five." The boy, quite impressed, said, Grandma, you've reached the speed limit!

"A very Happy Birthday" to your beautiful Star.I hope she has a wonderful day.The Sub Rolls sound delicious,my Son in USA loves these. The temps here have fallen too Ma,so I will be layering too Brr.The Telemarketer calls are a real nuisance. We do have a number we can ring in England to be taken off there lists.I did this early last yr and it all stopped. Now it has just started again,so maybe I need to ring them again seeing as it is a New Yr.Grr.Like you I don't answer my phone and think the same,if it's important they will leave a message, but it's the principle of things,we shouldn't have to be doing this, and I am a big principle lady.I love the Grandma speed limit...so funny He-He.Thankyou for the smile this morning much needed.Have a lovely day.Safe journeys.Take Care God Bless Kath xx
