ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JANUARY 12TH, 2010
It's TUESDAY…
Today is Make Your Dreams Come True Day
I’m working on making my dream of retirement come true. I’m trying to save a little money so have gone to a wireless internet server and have cut my home phone and am using only a cell phone now.
There are more money saving ideas that I’ll be putting into effect too. One of them is using the library instead of buying books. I’ve always watched for sale items rather to pay full price on anything and I’ll be watching even closer in the future too.
It is possible to put together a menu using only sale food items. I’ve done it before and will be doing it more often too. As I find more ways to save I’ll be passing them on to you.
The pictures today are a mixture of some of the decorating I’m doing around the house as the Christmas decorations come down.
THINKING
Each stressful encounter with another person gives us the chance either to focus on ourselves or to minister to another. Each person we encounter--the aggressive co-worker, the annoying neighbor, the driver who cuts us off in traffic--gives us an opportunity to show grace
Take time for spiritual study and reflection, for it is an important part of life and a reflection of who we are as a beloved and honored child of God
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
I haven’t tried this one yet, but remember my children like Hotdogs, beans and Tater-tots. This recipe puts it all together. I got this clever idea from one of my blogger friends and just adapted it a bit.
Tater tot Hotdog Casserole
6 hot dogs, diagonally cut into 1/2-inch thick pieces1 (16 oz can) baked beans1 cup shredded cheddar cheese3 cups frozen tater-tots, from a 32 oz pkg
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Coat a 2-quart baking dish w/ cooking spray. In baking dish, combine hot dogs, beans, and 1/2 cup cheddar cheese. Top with tater-tops in single layer.
Bake for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake until hot and bubbly and cheese is melted, 3-5 minutes
I’ll be trying it soon so I’ll let you know just how good it is.
PRAYERS
Father, thank You for Your powerful promise to provide for us
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AMEN
AROUND HOME
It continued to snow most of the day on Monday and when I got home I found my very kind neighbor out shoveling our front walk. I really appreciate the help for sure. I don’t think we got above 23 degrees all day. Today they say it’ll get up to 27 and on Wednesday 33. A heat wave is coming our way!!!
FAMILY ALBUM
This is a picture of DS#6 and our Princess who share mutual birthdays. He was 21 and she was 1 at the time.
COUNTING THE DAYS
I know we are still almost a month away from Valentine’s day but I needed something bright and cheery around the house. Besides that all the stores have their Valentine goods out, now so do I.
66 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !
94 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
79 DAYS UNTIL MA RETIRES
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer, A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

Am wondering what happened to your pictures! I expect blogger is acting up for you! I have been pretty lucky so far. (Knock on wood) Your adaption of my casserole sounds delicious! I think I must be a kid at heart as I have never lost my taste for beans and weiners! Happy Tuesday. Stay safe and warm!
My daughter went with a wireless server but she has nothing but problems of losing her internet connection lately. She has had her computer tested and everything. Still it keeps happening. As soon as she gets on the internet her connection goes. The guy who is the expert on this subject tells her it is there signal which is at fault.I do not understand all this jargon but just thought I would mention it.I hope it is the fault of blogger your pics are missing and not the changover to your wirless set -up.
The recipe did ring a bell and it sounds delicious I am going to try that one for my Grandson next time he calls to stay for a while,he loves all the ingredients in this dish..Have a lovely day.Happy to read your temps are on the up,you have such a kind neighbour to clear your path each time.Take Care God bless Kath xx
Wow 79 days til Ma retires caught my eye. So excited for you!!!!!
That hot dog, bean, and tater tots sounds good. Comfort foods I guess is what I would call it.
Thanks for putting in the part about a stressful situation with another. I needed that one today. Handling it all ok but just wondering why people act/say what they do. Trying to understand motivations for it so you can genuinely understand. Very hard to understand the human mind of some other being. lol
Woohoo! I love your spring countdown. My seed catalogs are starting to pile up with pages marked for orders.
Have a terrifically blessed day!!!
